I am actually over the moon on how this looks!

http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6317523/e3-2011-halo-combat-evolved-anniversary-preview

Everyone, stop your worrying, 343i will be able to handle Halo no problem (if this link is anything to go by), they have officially have officially made my day! For all of you that are 2 lazy to click on the link, this game runs 2 Engines at the same time...The original CE Engine...and the Halo: Reach Engine, and at the click of a button, you can cycle between the 2... *Dances*

Another cool feature is this... "players who own Halo: Reach will be able to install the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary maps from the disc to their hard drive and access them directly from the Halo: Reach menu, a move indicative of 343 Industries' goal to satisfy both current and old-school Halo fans."

*Screams* basically, it doesn't matter which version you own, when you access the multiplayer, you go against EVERYBODY...YEY!

(More features are mentioned on the link)

But...one thing i don't get...Halo 4 comes out in the Holiday season of 2012...Halo Anniversary comes out in November this year...Will both games work of each other? Say if one person is on The remade CE and another on Halo 4, will they both be able to be on the same online game...if that makes sense...

Other than that (which has me baffled) i honestly cannot wait! Your thoughts?

Honestly, as great as this news is, I think that the whole "Swap engine with a button press" thing will be a stupid gimmick. Everyone is going to use just one or the other and never swap after their first playthrough.

So Halo Anniversary is basically a remake, with a map pack for Halo: Reach?...

That sounds fair i suppose xD it just seems weird that the dates are so close together, it leads me to think that if you are on Reach (or the CE remake) you can go against people on Halo 4 and vice versa...but we will see.

Also, I'm pretty damn pumped. This looks to be a bad year... for my wallet, and an awesome one for gaming. And next year's shaping up to be pretty good as well.

EDIT: Also, why on Earth would I want to swap to the old graphics when I will have just paid $40 to play it in the new graphics!?
Thank you for not calling this year sucky. As it looks to be a amazing year.

How can you mess up Halo? Just take any FPS engine, copy&paste the assets from the last game in and you're practically done.

Coincidentally enough, it's how they also make Modern Warfare games.

Maybe so you can see the graphical leap. Or maybe when you're feeling nostalgic.

Now if this was only something I cared about. It's Halo. I hate playing online and I played the single player already.

Not bad. I was worried that "Halo Anniversary" just meant they increased the resolution and framerate cap and now call it "HD".

But from the looks of it, it seems that they've put quite a bit of work in revamping the graphics. Pretty good, I must say. Swapping between engines sounds pretty silly, won't be using it.
CE was always my favorite, even though I fell out of the series ever since, I'd like to see how this new studio will handle it. (Aren't they mainly comprised of old bungie devs anyway?)

I also didn't expect it to be 40$, which is also nice. Although I hope they won't leave it in the dust after it releases and continue to bring out some extra maps on it.

I haven't heard the phrase 'PC' yet. I refuse to get excited until I do.

I'm liking the look of this. And it's not even full price! I'll probably get it on release day, considering I already know the quality of this one.

(must resist urge to feed troll with fire... gnngh...)

This can be used with your Halo Reach game, basically, get this, and you have more maps on Reach, and i assume vice versa with the Remake as well.

They won't need any more maps, Halo 4 comes out the summer of 2012

Eh... As much as I prefer the PC for just about any game, I've got to say that Halo has always worked better on the consoles. Even trying to bring a 360 controller in to play it on the PC doesn't really work, it loses the solidity that the original games had going. Give me this on the 360 any day.

Ohh okay, I didn't really understand at first. Thanks for clearing that up then.

Can't believe it's been 10 years already, I remember playing Halo: CE when it first came out like it was yesterday.

I was honestly more excited over this remake than Halo 4. Which is good for me since it comes out this year. Honestly, it feels like I'm going to be approaching this game the same way I approach a Bruce Campbell movie.

Not because it's going to be an artistic videogaming milestone, or a vanguard for the new age of FPS games.... But because, it's Halo.

And, did he say Firefight? Do want!

I hold the 'mice are superior for aiming' opinion, and I'm hopeless at FPSes with a joystick. Also, I don't own a 360 so I don't have much choice.

Flight sims, racing games, action-RPGs - fine. They all work better with a console controller. I'll never get used to precise aiming with a joystick though.

Im happy, I always said (probably not as often here), the Halo: CE was really the only good game in the series (and before anyone says, that is my opinion). So Im very exited to have a chance to play an updated Halo: CE.

I'm both happy and disappointed. As a fan of halo 1 on pc, I love the idea of playing the game with updated graphics. The game looks like a good deal so far.

I'm disappointed though. I remember those days when I would play halo 1's multiplayer online. I thought it was really great and it is a shame they are using the reach maps instead of remaking 1's multiplayer. I really like the things in 1's multiplayer, such as no auto aim and no lunge. Perhaps I should see if halo 1 pc still has servers running. I know the custom edition still does. Also, I hope death island makes it in. I loved that map

Im not. Remakes are part of the problem. I am tired of Halo. Completely burned out. Reach was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I might be just burned out on FPS all together, but the yearly installments don't make me excited at all, because we are lacking variety. I mean god, Microsoft didn't announce anything remarkably special other than Tomb Raider for the Xbox. Where are the first party titles? Oh thats right, they are pouring all the development money into 4 halo games. I want to see something new out of M$. I loved Halo 1 back in the day. It took up so many nights. I never owned an original xbox but i played the hell out of the PC version. Eventually got a 360 and halo 3 and Reach. I'm done. Reach was my breaking point. And i know they won't release The remastered version for the PC, so I'm just not excited at all. If we keep telling Microsoft that we will keep buying Halo games, just... because its halo.

Oh anybody expecting it to be 40 bucks, I refer you to any article about ODST.

To all remakes, I offer this simple sentence:

You've already played it!

If you're such a big fan that you need to have this, you've obviously already played the 1st Halo game. Tarting it up and repackaging it with multiplayer maps you've also already played before, does not warrant so much excitement.

Excitement for Halo 4 I could tolerate. It's new, it's enigmatic, it's exciting. Halo 1... you've already played it. Probably multiple times.
