This holiday season?
Well, I might just have to buy this, I did like the first game... I want to see if they can keep the atmosphere as it was while giving it an overhaul.
I'll definitely have to keep an eye on this, at least so that I can tell my dad.
He doesn't seem to be better than me at them, yet he plays them to death >.>
He got to a higher rank than me on Reach in a week after Christmas, when I had it since day 1 >.>

There will be one of two reasons why people will buy this:

1.you are a graphics whore.

2.you are a Halo fanboy.

...or both. I'm not saying it's bad but just degrading.
Or a stable frame rate and xbox live support, with improved draw distances, and smoother controls perhaps?

It's got halo on it, so that means I will probably have to buy it in the end, no matter how much I will despise myself for doing so (only-graphics remakes are against everything I stand for).

There was nothing generally wrong with the original apart from the PC port. If you think re-buying a game that you've already completed is fun then more power to you.

Considering there are gazillions of generic FPS that are just like Halo I wouldn't count Xbox live support as an valid argument.

I don't see the point, the original still holds up pretty well...
Pointless...
Ten years isn't enough time to then re-release a game.. what the hell?

Now to milk the franchise until it no longer has any meaning.
This product will only appeal to those who do not own or play the original, and jumped in on the current generation of consoles.

But even then, I fail to see the point of this since it's just going to be an excuse to sell what is effectively a map pack for full price (I'm sure someone will point out ODST here, though at least ODST had some original material included).

I'm just saying that you can still buy it off the XBL Marketplace (if I remember correctly), so other than online multiplayer and online co-op which will probably be in the game, I just don't see the point in buying it again. That's just me.

Framerate and hit boxes where kinda bad in CE as where some draw distances.
I don't think that there is any comparable game multiplayerwise out there, so XBL is pretty substantial as a selling point especially as LAN play now on such an old game is kinda dead. Perhaps it comes from 1000s of hours in halo ce and 2 but the randomization and openness of playstyle via a nice physics system, and no invisible walls or limits to how you navigate a level is pretty differentiating from seemingly similar games out there.

I dunno, I might get it if there's a significant price drop in a few years or so; I lost my original Halo disc in college...
It was like, a really original disc that didn't have "Xbox Live" on the menu and everything.

I'm a bit worried about "New Art" combined with "High Definition." One of my favorite things about the first Halo was the the great, largly percussive sound track, but bungie jumped ship when they got a bigger budget for Halo 2 and went with electric guitars and orchestras instead.

I hope the soundtrack doesn't consist of bad remixes.

I have mixed opinions on this. I mean the first Halo game was so good that it's still an amazing blast to play even after nine years, it only seems to get better with time. I don't see how updating everything makes it better.

I mean sure it could be quite cool to see everything in high def and I'd be all over it if it featured Thel Vadam as the Antagonist to add more depth to the story and if it allowed me to play as an Elite in multiplayer but still.... I don't know. It could be good but it's still a remake and this time it's a remake of a game I love, so I'm very much on the fence with this one.

Bottom line for me:
It could be good but they might also ruin my nostalgic memories.
Is there a reason you didn't just put 'the Arbiter'?

Also, I'm a bit wary with it being Timeshift's makers. They did a decent job with a new mechanic and made you actually feel like you had a visor on, but that was a poor game for gameplay and story.

I wonder how much longer Halo is going to be milked for money.
Until new laws come to say that recreation of certain games is against the law or that certain games can not be remade.

With new people joining the Halo series there will be those who want more from Halo because there are improvements that could be made, which gives developers an opportunity for a new Halo game.

How about Halo 3 on PC before redoing the first Halo on console ?

(well, as long as they take other devs than those who did Halo 2)

Nothing really that would be classed as game-breaking although considering the hardware resources that were at disposal it was a pretty good job.

your point? the game was popular, big deal. nevertheless, it may be re-sellabe but it's degrading to the gaming industry and the gamers themselves. The film industry are ones infamous for this shit not the gaming industry.

Ha, GTA did a better job. There wasn't really nothing special about it apart from the combat/health system and the game is heavily scripted...Yes, there were also invisible walls but they were quite hard to find.

An overhaul of the best game in the series, I like.
I some what wanted to chew your post up, spit it out, piss on it, and then feed it to a homeless man who wouldn't even eat it because he somehow knew that the content of the post was a mixture of insanity and human feces.

I think people are confusing Custom Edition with the actual Single Player Halo, both are two different things.

Doesn't CE mean "Combat Evolved", the subtitle of the serie which was later dropped in Halo 2+ ?
