The first Halo still, in my opinion, has the best campaign of them all. This game has so much nostalgia packed into it for me, and it's just a freakin' awesome game. All I can say is, they better not screw this up.

EDIT: There's one more thing I can say. Their performance on this will determine whether they are capable of continuing the series. If they do a good job with this, I will feel good about them making Halo 4. I'm sure 343 Industries is thinking something similar.

You cant blame Bungie on this one, they are working on a new IP and they wont do anything related to Halo anymore, the team working on the remake is the team from Timeshift, it is probably Microsoft fault and you already know how they are.

I still have my old copy of Halo CE for Xbox (before it got platinum), so it's a no. Unless we talk about a carbon copy with only graphic updates and multiplayer, where it will become a "maybe"

I lost interest in Halo after the second one, so I don't really care about it. I would like Halo Wars 2 though.

An overhaul of the best game in the series, I like.
I some what wanted to chew your post up, spit it out, piss on it, and then feed it to a homeless man who wouldn't even eat it because he somehow knew that the content of the post was a mixture of insanity and human feces.

I think people are confusing Custom Edition with the actual Single Player Halo, both are two different things.
Doesn't CE mean "Combat Evolved", the subtitle of the serie which was later dropped in Halo 2+ ?
CE can stand for "Combat Evolved" but also for "Custom Edition", the latter being a popular PC mod of the game that allows such extensive modification of the game that it puts Forge to shame a billion times over.
I see, thanks for the info :)

God, I hope they keep the original audio of CE, I don't want to see those pea shooting plastic toys from Halo 2 and 3. Even if they did, I wouldn't buy it. I'd rather buy the PC version.

But I know they're probably gonna screw with everything and gimp the sniper-pistol and super shotgun and replace the largely synth soundtrack of CE with lots of orchestra cheese from 2 and 3.

Nostalgia wanking, commence!

OT: I'm really gonna enjoy this. Played the original game on pc and it got a place in my heart.
...though that was before the fanboys started appearing.

And So it Begins.....the forerunners foretold of this day. If only we had listened....

Thus begins......the beating of the Dead Halo Horse.

Thank you very much, that is what I was referring to, so don't be a dick just because I thought we were on about Combat Evolved...troll.

Ahem... REMAKE MARATHON

A Durandal graphics update is not enough!
I agree with this above post.

However, I will buy this. Mostly because I'm a Bungie/Halo whore and no matter how hesitant I am about it, Bungie owns my soul.

does Halo really need the money THAT badly and are THAT autistc that they are crapping out remakes of their games that early now they stopped their franchise?
this was supposed to be the one good thing about Halo reach

even Lucas has more dignity than this,
even nintendo

Somehow, I have a feeling that this "new version" will be the equivalent of what would be a free mod if it was on the PC :/

At least I hope they'll recruit in the modding community to make it (like Valve does when someone makes an outstanding mod of a Valve game).

Those are two different mods. A mod from a game on STEAM requires programming knowledge, as for the mods that you have seen in Halo before, most are done with programs that are just select, edit, done.

I meant it in the sense of a graphical/balancing mod (e.g. Cinematic mod [http://www.cinematicmod.com/]), not a complete overhaul (which would be the equivalent of a different game or an addon (e.g. Dear Esther [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dear_Esther]))

Assuming its just a HD upgrade that with a budget price tag... don't see the problem.

The current generation of consoles isn't going anywhere soon, so it makes sense to upgrade major releases to HD. The problem with the video game industry is that the format is changing every few years, so the past tends to get lost. Much like the music and video mediums went through digital remastering when CDs and DVDs came out, games need to be converted to new formats or risk being lost.

Closest analogy I can think of is comic remastering. The printing methods used have completely changed, so Golden Age material has to be completely recolored. Sometimes they try to keep it as close to the original as possible (which runs into problems because they no longer use the poor paperstock commonly used in the past, so this often looks extremely bad), sometimes they pull out all the computer coloring tricks to create a more modern looking product.

Video games are running into the same sort of choices. If you have to completely recode the visuals of a game, do you keep the original graphics, which have often aged horribly and might cut into resell value... or do you upgrade the graphics, risking alienation with the more hardcore fanbase. It's going to take a bit of trial and error to find the right balance.

Doing premium priced remakes along the lines of Goldeneye are a completely different matter, since that's creating a product that is designed to play differently. A good HD upgrade should feel exactly like the original, but with nicer graphics. I think the Serious Sam upgrade on XBL did a damn good job of it.

Oh, I misunderstood, my bad. :)

I love all the people here getting upset, calling this milking, and beating a dead horse. Shall we take a look at all the old games being remade in HD? Hell God of War 1/2 aren't even as old and they got remade in HD. Calm down hoes, this is a good thing. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
