Halo Reach was good for local co-op. Other than that, yeah sorta forgettable.

And while its nice they say that, yeah, don't believe it. No way they'd release an Xbone version that's provably inferior. Whatever PC version we get will be scaled to the Xbone

It probably just means that it will have extensive settings menu like a PC game should. It won't otherwise be different from the Xbox version. Even Xbox has a mouse and keyboard these days so it suits them just fine to create even the console version with that in mind. Which is a good thing, IMO. There's no reason for consoles to rely solely on gamepads.

This could be best Halo game or first Halo game to be actually good? the previews were also sound better than previous iteration.
Because, y'know, no other Halo game was good...

As for "best," dubious.

You do know that it will still be Halo, right? If you didn't like Halo before you won't like it now just because it's on PC.

OT: I read the news and it all sounds good but 343's treatment (Or killing) of the Halo franchise leaves me very skeptical about this one, if this game isn't a great Halo game then that might be it for Halo.

If you did not own a powerful PC when the first Halo came out, it was quite good for it's time. It was probably also the first shooter (that I recall) on any platform that had semi-competent NPC AI allies.

*EDIT* Oh nevermind. Half-life had already come out....... wait 3 YEARS PRIOR?!?! WTF?!

Honestly, Halo is a very inconsistent series. Halo 1, and Reach are amazing. Halo 2 and 3 are meh, Halo 4 is...super mediocre, not good, sure, but not as bad as people say, but forgettable otherwise. Halo 5 is just bad, period.

I have no idea if this next game is going to be good or bad. Like, I was sure I would hate Reach cause I was fed up by 3, but honestly, I love it more than Halo 1, but then we got 4 and 5...but who knows, Reach surprised me, maybe this will too?

Well you're in the minority thinking that lol, people often fight over which Halo is the best one in the series and it's usually between 2 and 3. I personally love all of the Halo games that Bungie made, Reach was probably the one I liked the least but it's still a great game and it sure as hell beats than 4 and 5.

I do still have hope for this one, it does sound like they've learned from previous mistakes and listened to the fans this time around but only time will tell if they really did.

The people who think Halo 2 and 3 are the best are typically the people who only play the multiplayer. While I do find Halo Reach's MP to also be the best, Halo 1 and Reach are also the best story mode games.

If we're playing the ranking game:

8) Halo 3: ODST
7) Halo 4
6) Halo Wars
5) Halo 2
4) Halo 5: Guardians
3) Halo 3
2) Halo: Reach
1) Halo: Combat Evolved

I really liked ODST, simply because with the jazz music and rain fall and purposefully dower tone, it felt like a Noir take on Halo, especially after the Lego bright run/gun of the previous Halo games.

It'd be like if the next Bayonetta game centers on a journalists who is trying to follow her through all her dimensional shenanigans, and its all rainy and jazzy. Sure its not what people expect, but its a nice change of pace and expands the universe to something other than mindless violence.

While I did play and beat ODST, I don't really have a strong opinion on it in either way. I played it with friends sort of rushing through it on Legendary (MC Collection). I should probably give it a closer look though at some point.

I think you should. Its a small story, sure, more akin to a DLC expansion than a full release, but its a nice little story and a good change of pace from the central storyline.

I thought Halo 2 was the best in terms of story, with the first coming in a close second, but it played the worst of the whole series, with that stupid close up fov. Oh, and it also had the biggest blue ball ending I have ever seen in really anything. Usually things that end with a cliff hanger have a cliff hanger, Halo 2 just turned itself off.

Halo should have ended with 3 and reach,
While there's been post-Reach stuff, I agree. Halo 3 was a natural ending to the trilogy. Reach was a natural ending to the 'saga', to to speak. It's telling that Reach's epilogue now feels out of place in light of everything that's chronologically occurred after Halo 3.

If I look at the campaigns of the first trilogy, it basically goes like this:

Halo 1: Best gameplay, weakest story.
Halo 2: Best story, weakest gameplay.
Halo 3: Middle-ground

What?! Halo 1's story was great! The later games got too up their own asses. It gave you enough so you knew enough of what was going on, but had enough mystery to make you wonder and yearn for more. But then 2 suddenly just goes full Lord of the Rings on you with prophets and arbiters, and sudden monkey-men aliens that never really feel like they fit in.

Similar with Reach which was great cause they reigned in the plot instead of getting carried away with all this lore dumping.

I played Halo CE on PC and it was average with repetetive level design. I played Halo 3 on 360 and it was again mediocre to average with second half ruined once again by flood.

Halo infinite could be good or may not. only time will tell. but since they are designing for PC in mind. i doubt it will be as mediocre as earlier ones.

They're designing the Slipspace Engine with PC in mind at the technical level. In other words, it'll probably have a proper PC version instead of a port of the Xbox version, and include stuff like proper graphics options and support for DX12, etc.

That basically says nothing about the actual game design i.e. gameplay, level design, and so on. I highly doubt Halo is suddenly going to become like Doom, Metro or whatever, or that they're going to radically redesign the core Halo gameplay for PC gamer sensibilities, whatever those may be. It will very likely look, sound and play like a Halo game.
