On topic, though: I only ever played the first game to see what people were raving about. It didn't seem like there was enough of a storyline to translate over to the big screen. That being said, the games have an interesting visual. If they DO make this thing into a movie, I'd at least give it a shot. Too very different mediums mean too very different products, after all. No idea whether the thing's being made, though, as this thread is the first I've heard about it.
I heard that it was stopped due to lack of funds or people who wanted to invest in something so edgy for today's gaming/film market.
It's probably not going to be made. It's not been officially cancelled as far as I know, but to all intents and purposes it's dead. Which is probably a good thing, because as we all know, no video game movie has ever been good.
If it has been cancelled I will praise Allah because the film will be a pile of wank and kittens - dont think too much about that i didnt lol

Besides, in my opinion, the only way this movie could escape being overwhelmingly bad or mediocre is by telling a story about some kind of Spartan development center overrun by the flood, a la Quarantine. You'd get to see the Spartans and the Flood and it'd have a decent chance at being an okay movie.
The project is like a flickering light, sometimes it's in production and then the next thing you know they're canceling it, and then it's back. I have no idea what the status is now. Hopefully BioShock doesn't do this to me.
