One features normal soldiers using normal weaponry, the other involves super space soldiers using super space weaponry.

If you're really set on just buying those two, get ODST first, then Modern Warfare 2 either (a) when it drops into a reasonable price tag, or (b) second hand at a reasonable price tag.

If you own Halo 3 and the DLC for it, there is almost zero reason to purchase ODST. Rent it, finish the campaign and play Firefight for a while, then you're done with it.

Modern Warfare 2 is a completely new game, not a $60 expansion pack.

Modern Warfare 2, since ODST is basically just an expansion pack with a 6 hour campaign.

I'd go with the COD over Halo, although i prefer the multiplayer in COD due to all the customising options. Even if most of the sad buggers online all use some piddly sub-machine gun. Where's the fun in that! Gimme a giant monster any day.

are you serious? huh alright modern warfare 2 because mainly its a sequel to one of the best shooters ever, and ODST isnt anything new same enimies, same guns(with exception of the silenced SMG but thats just retarded),same multiplayer (with exception of firefight) plus have you seen the trailers for MW2 it looks amazing

ODST is a ripoff, ESPECIALLY if you have Halo 3, since they both offer the same MP. On the other hand, MW2 has raspberry jam for blood. Lose/lose in my opinion.
Halo 3-2 ODST uses the Engine that Halo 3 used so no surprise there

Also, don't play Lose/Lose, every time you kill something in that game it deletes a random file off your computer

Well obviously I havn't played Modern Warfare 2 yet, so I can't give a fair judgement. I have however gone through the entire ODST campaign, played several rounds of Firefight mode, and played on the three new Halo 3 multiplayer maps included with the game. If you liked Halo one or Halo three, all three of these things are great. So I guess what I'm saying is...ODST is fun, and I haven't played COD:MW2.

MW2 looks better... but as you mentioned, it hasn't been released yet. ODST looks like it's trying to make Halo semi-realistic (HAHAHAHA!) and still re-use as much content as possible. I love realism in my games, but while I have yet to play ODST, I bet I wouldn't like it much. Horde mode looks fun though, but does one new game-type for MP justify the cost?

Okay, I'm on a limited budget and am facing that daunting decision of which game to invest in!

These two are both titans in the available titles this year and obviously ODST has the advantage of already being out but I'd appreciate some input on which one people rate more at the moment (with obvious speculation for COD6).

Any views are welcome :O) Personally I've loved all Halo and COD games but the game play on COD looks to be the more fluent... hmm!
Simple.
If you own Halo 3, then theres no real reason to buy ODST now, at full price.

Get MW2, it will give you much more bang for your buck.

Neither, give your money to charity. That itself is more rewarding then an achievement anyday...
But do you get the Bleep-Bloop sound?
Real men of genius don't need the Bleep-Bloop sound to let the people of the world know of their achievements, they just do.

Anybody other than me doubt that the average soldier could shoot the M60 whilst CARRYING it in his two arms? Even if the M60 is considered a wussy machine gun in the army...
Possible? Yes.
Smart? no.

If you already have Halo 3 just get MW2. ODST is great, but it is just too short of a campaign and not enough new content in the multiplayer to compete with what MW2 is likely going to push out.

Side note: Did MW2 get the COD label back or are they still going without it?
