I think I've been on just 5 of the maps, but been on a lot of Forgeworld variants (including mother-fucking Blood Gulch wooyay!), but they're not that bad from what I've seen.

Does it matter? The community has the tools to make good maps (and not just nude women made of weapons). That and with DLC we can get old maps/remakes for a long long while......
Or until Microsoft F's up....again

well the problem I have with reach maps is they all feel a little more than forgey or rehashed old maps. Which is great, but its like they skipped the dev phase by jumping back to old games and taking out tried and true maps.

Nothing feels custom or built. The difference between leaders in the forge community and the maps bungie made are minimal. Oooh revamp of ivory tower. I dunno I guess deep down I think they rushed it out and decided to be lazy and go we gave you the best forge we could give now you make your own maps, I think we'll need more tools in our tool box before that idealogy becomes feasible.

Some maps are good for purposes (boneyard and spire are to big and narrow for anything but invasion) but there is no equivelent of valhala. I hope they have some dlc as I enjoyed the halo 3 maps more so.

the maps are mostly fine, hopefully within the next few months we will get some EPIC maps from forgeworld makers, however the only problem i have with this game is EVERYONE I FUCKING RUN INTO only wants to play swat or snipers pro, its annoying as fucking balls playing only those two gametypes, fucking camping sniping shotgun bastards, every last one of them, when i just want some decent slayer (i usually get 1st or 2nd in swat and snipers so its not like im getting raped on, just dont prefer that those are grouped into the slayer match type)

They didn't seem that bad to me however spawn killing was a problem then again I was playing on Big Team so you'll sometimes spawn with an enemy right up your ass. I had a problem with Spire where I couldn't figure out how to get down from the big tower until I died the other one I played on was the basic 2 forts design however it was a vehicle madhouse if you went on foot you would very likely get splattered and my teammates kept snagging the vehicles I didn't really like that one.

I'm not really a fan of Boardwalk or Paradiso. Others like Swordbase and Countdown play much better with armor abilities slayer. Spire is alright.

I am really loving most of the levels. Reflection, pinnacle, and hemorrhage are all old favorites that work great. I also really dig some new maps like Zealot(Sans the low g area), Powerhouse, Boneyard(for invasion), and the Cage.

I think the real problem is that some gametypes don't work that great in some maps.

Hopefully the updates coming in October will fix some of this with updated playlists and new forgeworld maps.

The community maps aren't on the pub playlists. If you lok at the OP I did say that I enjoyed the community maps.

Also, there's only so much grey and green I want to look at :D

C'mon DLC we know you're there
I actually have a feeling that Bungie won't bother making new maps, and just select the best player made Forgeworld maps to become standard playlist maps.
Yeah because the popularises of microtransactions just hate the chance to score millions of dollars for a few weeks work.

Expect DLC and expect lots of it. Also expect that every game mode worth playing gets switched to DLC only maps.

Forge World does a lot to balance out that problem but yes I do agree that a lot of maps do have the problem with too many similar structures and there are only a few. True this is the early stages and we can probably expect to see a lot of new stuff in the future but as it stands it is kind of lame that several of them are clones of old maps and that they are all designed fairly similarly and that there aren't many of them.
Still, there are a lot of great multiplayer variants that help balance out that issue.

Yep. It seems the best ones are the Forge World ones but I'm already getting sick of looking at those grey blocks (maybe because I spent too much time in digital Legoland building Forge maps) :D

Yeah, the Reach maps don't seem like they're very good. I've only managed to get in a couple hours of play so far, so I've only played a few of the maps, but they were pretty fucking terrible. My good memories of Halo 2 and 3 split-screen multiplayer have been brutally murdered by the 10 minute long game I played where I came first with 10 kills because my mates and I couldn't find each other. Stupid corridors.

Exactly.

Hope Bungie gives us some smaller, less vertical maps.

This is the problem with the jetpack and all these new additions... you try to add in too much gimmicky shit and you end up like COD: Broken, imbalanced and campy.

I feel the maps are lacking a bit.. I think it's because there isn't that many of them. Though that's probably because this time Halo 3 has over 9000 maps from the map packs released. Some of those maps are also made in Forgeworld, too :-/. Hopefully Bungie will start adding a lot of great popular fanmade forged maps.

Ugh, I hate sword base. Played a capture the flag game on that one, and we lost because we couldn't figure out where to take the stupid flag. Running around in circles for damn near 3 minutes. It all looks the same!

I read somewhere (probably Game Informer) that Bungie was holding back maps for DLC. We shall see.

I certainly hope that they also increase the library of objects for Forge as well.

Reflection makes up for any and all problems relating to quality/quantity of maps with it's giant amount of awesome.

I like them all except zealot, because that is like the only one I ever play when in the arena and I hate it! I love all invasion maps though.

I love countdown. It's complex without being campy. As far as I can tell, the only reason you don't like it is because you don't know your way around it yet. That's not the map's fault.
The maps are too easy to camp on. That's my only problem. Zealot is fucking impossible to play on, because every time I play it, the enemy team just goes into the space section with DMRs, and instantly shoots down anyone who comes up the lifts.
