Oh man, I haven't played Halo MP since Combat Evolved. That video brought back memories.

People racing for the vehicles, people shooting at the people who get the vehicles, dopey bastards with mics, dopey bastards spouting abuse over their mics...

Ahhh...

I can't even remember the names of the original versions of those maps in Halo CE...

Damn.

Also, watching that video reminded me to look for a copy of Halo 1 & 2 to buy. I must play them again!
Unless you're making a point about how Bungie are recycling map designs, you're a fool: they're all original.
Well Anchor 9 has some influence from the Pit and Tempest has some of Vahalla in it. Still you are right.

I love the maps. Anyone remember my rant about how Reach's maps lack substance, and passive storytelling, and don't resonate with the background universe like Halo 3's maps? Well the Noble pack fixes this. Tempest gets points for cool mysterious stuff (I love those pylons you can see in the distance, surrounded by energy mist); Breakpoint gets points for coolness and more mystery, as well as a nice view; Anchor 9 gets points for having the most utterly beautiful view ever seen in any game since Homeworld.

Still, it's about time some new maps came along. It's a bit odd picking up Reach for the first time and knowing where the shotgun is on that map because that's where it was years ago..

I was making a point about how long it is since I've played Halo 1.

Also, there are only three or four significantly different environment types in Halo, so what differentiates the maps is fine detail and scale.

Lol at 3:06. I'll stick to games that are a bit cleaner, thank you very much. Which is unfortunate because this looks rather good.
Cleaner? It's not the game, it's the loser playing it. you have the option to mute all players in reach, you know. The actual game doesn't have any words harsher than ass.

You mean like Grass, Ice, Covenant and human spacecraft, Desert, Mountainous, and destroyed/not destroyed city? That seems like quite a few variations to me.

You forgot Forerunner, my favourite.

There's also combinations of those designs.

I love the new maps. Fun to play, and each map has its own special story to tell through the environment.

Although I haven't played invasion on Breakpoint yet, which is what I really want to do. But to do that I need to play invasion and hope everyone has the maps, which never happens for me :(

Oh, how subtle.

OT: Yes, they look really good. Yes, Invasion on Breakpoint is probably the most fun thing ever.

But, eh, 10 bucks. I don't know.

Reach is awesome but I'm not sure I want to pay 800 points for three maps. They look cool but I have bad experiences from halo 3. Basically every halo 3 map pack had one good map and the rest weren't that good. The first map pack had foundry(which should have shipped with the game imo), second had avalanche and the third one had sandbox. The rest were between okay and not good. I do love the fact that Bungie made a really big map for Reach. I still want Sandtrap from halo 3....

Boneyard was bigger than sandbox, and spire was as big if not bigger. So you already had two.
