I liked it for the most part; except where they pronounce Jorge and Jun wrong.

If any of you Escapists are ever going to make a game; please pay attention to this:

If you are going to pronounce a name wrong: DO NOT PUT IT IN! It's not a very hard concept to grasp. Jorge =/= George and Jun =/= June. Jorge = hor-hay and Jun (I assume, anyway) = Yun, if not just Jun.

I mean, what's the point in trying to put a name into a game if you're just going to pronounce it RIDICULOUSLY? It really pissed me off.

A quote from the Bungie panel just before release at PAX, "500 years in the future thats how they pronounce it."

As for my take on the voice acting well it was fine. I never noticed anything that detracted from the whole experience but nothing that really stood out either. Except for Jorge and Halsey though, they both did excellent jobs.

I think you're exploding a bit over that. Jun is fine. Jorge confused me at first, but suited his Hungarian accent/language after a while. George is too English.

I loved every bit of the Campaign. I don't see a problem with the voice acting. Well, maybe Kat or June's voice gets a bit annoying, but thats the same with every game. There's usually a character thats annoying, and sometimes because of their voice/voice acting.

But they pronounce it George. If they're going to spell it as Jorge, a Portugese name, which is pronounced "Hor-hey", then they should either pronounce it right or change the name to something else.

I don't care about 500 years in the future. You should NOT mess with how people pronounce things.

After all; while you and I might realise that "Jorge" isn't pronounced "George" in real life, what about all the 10 year olds who actually will think it's "George"? They'll come across as total morons.

It wasn't bad at all... It wasn't Mass Effect, but it was more than passable. I'm guessing that most people hating on the voice acting are the same ones hating on the game for little more reason than, "It's Halo, it's popular, it sucks." And those people are idiots.

Seriously, if everyone who mispronounced my name was considered a total moron, I'm pretty sure that 99% of the world would be considered mentally retarded.
I mean that because they'd be so easily influenced by a video game, they'd think they're right without realising that it's a video game.

I honestly don't even remember what the details of the storyline were. Aliens invaded Reach, aliens, aliens win, and I killed a bunch of stuff in between. I enjoyed it, but it'd be quite a stretch to say I cared about the voice acting, seeing as how I'd be just as happy if nobody bothered to talk at all.

George isn't Portuguese, though, he's of Hungarian descent, with elements of a British accent.

Yeah; I kinda noticed, what with him talking Hungarian half the time.

Why name him a Portugese name if he's Hungarian?

I think that's the point of the whole "500 years in the future" bit. Humanity is divided into planets, not countries. If one planet's culture mixes Hungarian, British, and Portuguese, Portuguese-named, British-accented Hungarians could be expected.

I think they said that Portugese dialects had died out, or something? Anyone got the exact quote?

Some people just want to criticise something. The voice acting was actually pretty good.

Jorge destroyed my heart in his final scene. But I was not a fan of Kat's accent, but that may just be me. Emile and Carter were quite badass as well.

It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't stellar.

Right in the beginning, you're getting a distress call from a squad under fire, and I can swear that the voice actor doing the call was sitting on a lawn chair and sipping some ice tea. I've never heard a more relaxed person under fire in my life. He seemed almost... bored.
Yes, this is exactly what I thought. One friend told me, "Yeah, but he's a Marine, so aren't they all badass and stuff?"

"Mostly, yeah, but you'd also have some sense of urgency if you're getting the shit kicked out of you."

Maybe it's also a Hungarian name pronounced 'George'. Don't argue with the evidence in front of you, son.

Good! Although i thought it was a bit predictable that Kat had a Russian accent. You'll never see a cranky, spy-like soldier with a Mid-Western accent
