If you had to choose, which one would it be? Basically I'm asking that, if we lived in the Matrix, and someone offered you a red pill, with which you'd be free of the illusion, but have to deal with the harsh ,cruel, reality, or a blue pill, with which you'd continue on in a happy sate of blissful ignorance, which one would you choose?

There is no real definite winner. It's all in the balancing act of both worlds. So yeah, I'd be the idiot that'd down both pills.

I'd rather deal with harsh reality than going back to being under a machines mechanical thumb.

Give me the Red Pill... Now!

Freedom

It'd be a shitty life, but it'd be mine; not someone else's invention.

Happiness. To be free and unhappy is a fools choice. It's like the question about predestination - if every action you make is predetermined, and you have no free will, how can you tell the difference anyway? Pride always comes before a fall, so why jump off yourself?

Wait. I thought I posted in this thread already.

Maybe I'm crazy. Either way, I choose happiness. Because whats the point of being free if you're alone and miserable?

Eh. 'Freedom' in such a context is far too limiting.

You're free from some form of control, but how far does that freedom really extend?

True freedom is necessarily an illusion, because it can only exist in context of specific limitations.

Freedom from what?

Oppression?
Hunger?
Illusion?

To be truly free is to be without any limits or restrictions whatsoever.
And that, as far as I can tell, is impossible.

If you're happy, then it doesn't matter how you are living your life.
If you are unhappy, then freedom to be happy would be nice.

Why can't I be free and happy? Wouldn't I be happy if I was free? Why would you want freedom if you're not happy about it? I think I'm thinking about it too much.

I'm sticking with happiness. "Freedom" in terms of the Matrix means spending the rest of your life being trapped in the sewers of a destroyed waste land. I can sympathise with Cypher's decision to go back into the matrix. Hell, if the only price to pay for living in a seemingly normal and happy environment is to provide machines with electric power, sign me up!
