Just tried the Sonic generations demo. It lasted all of 3mins. I wanted to see more of the 3d gameplay rather than 2.5D as well. :/ (Yeah, I'm one of the only people who actually WANTS more 3D sonic games, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were awesome!)
