Obviously never seen Left 4 Dead pictures. It looks so cartoony and not serious at all. Eh, maybe it just looks that way to me.

Battlefield: Bad Company nothing is more fun than shooting a whole in a building and shooting the place to hell.

Well it's not exactly new (2004), but Psychonauts is definitely fun. Check it out.

Locoroco (2) - those bouncy little blobs always manage to bring a smile to my face, anyway. :) That's pretty much all I can think of.

I must say one thing though. Or two. Left 4 Dead depressing and realistic? Really? Same for Gears of War 2. At least say you have played Horde mode. Always had a blast with that one...
Left 4 Dead
It was made to look like your shooting people.
In the zombie apocolypse.
In the dark.

Gears of War 2
Death.
War.
Not happy.

Someone mentioned
Fallout 3
To be honest, it is enjoyable but not exactly happy. Yes, shooting a guys face off gives me a grin but it isn't exactly a happy game.

Loco Roco 1 & 2 are prime examples of what I was mentioning. Fun with no real depth. Saints Row 2 was also a lot of fun, mostly because like Eat Lead it dosen't take itself seriously.

So, shooting zombies isn't fun? At least to me, there's nothing more entertaining than blasting through legions of zombies with some friends. Same goes for GoW2. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for the kind of game that pits you against a seemingly insurmountable amount of enemies, and then surviving against the odds...:)

Anyway, one rather depressing scene aside, I found GoW2 to be quite the uplifting game experience really....

Castle Crashers would be a good example since its taking the piss out of sword and sorcery beat-em-ups (really beat-em-ups in general).
Portal is light-hearted. Its visual style is clinical, but the dialogue is hilarious.
The Adventures of Poopy McGraw was probably the best example of this, though.

If you have a Ps2 or a backwards-compatible Ps3, you should get all of the Jak and Daxter games, those are fun right through.
Either this or any of the Ratchet and Clank games.

:D

Ugg. Did you honestly read the original post? Happy games. I changed it to happy games. I even said before that Left 4 Dead is fun, but not happy.

Anyways, all of these other suggestions are great, and I tried some out and I have to thank everyone. Lot of fun, those games are.

I third the Lego games. I think Batman made me lol the most. I don't know how they got away with making the female characters make so many innuendos.
And even in Lego Indiana Jones, with heads getting lopped off, it was still happy!

Yes, I did. Shooting zombies and the Locust Horde make me happy. Hence those choices.

There is no way for me to win this argument, so how about this. Pick games that are Doddliebob. Doddliebob games can be catagorized by:
Happy, upbeat music
Simple addicting gameplay a la Locoroco
OR
Gameplay that has no real meaning a la Saints Row 2
And little to no blood/gore
So while you look for games that are Doddliebob, everyone else who understands what I mean by "Happy", as you were.

Also, I tried Lego Batman and it is a lot of fun. I had played the other two, but this is much different. Different and very fun.

Maybe TF2?

Sure, there's a good amount of blood and gore, but the graphics are quite cartoony.

If not, try out Katamari Damacy as others have suggested. And Nobi Nobi Boy if you've got a PS3.

Doddliebob? I think you may have invented a new genre here, or at least category, as there would likely be many different genres that could be classified as Doddliebob. Perhaps. oddly enough, I finally got round to buying Locoroco 2 today. Figured I needed some cheering up and those little blobs worked wonder the last time as well, so...

On that subject, would Rez count? Though I did find the last stage & boss to be difficult, but it's still quite easy to get the hang of.
