Just a fan idea I have.

In the last game you played before we change year, which videogame characters and in what kind of situation celebrated the new year of our world?
*Please, if it is a big spoiler for the game, please marked it obviously with a spoiler tag.*

Follow my example please:

Gravity Ghost
Iona the ghost celebrated the new Year with Owl Guardian. I imagine they watched together the grant galaxy with some good Owl Jokes and science lesson.

Cursor the Minesweeper is apparently a workaholic, since s/he was off sweeping mines.
On the other hand s/he is always working in a war zone, so I'd like to imagine s/he was sitting at home relaxing with a nice stress relieving unsolved sudoku to fill out, while watching the news sweep of the last year, seeing the fireworks flying on the telly and outside of his/her window.

To celebrate the new year the drivers stop their cars and the pedestrians stop running to have a big party.

The Maloq Magnate Ranger Gemmaugr spent the time hauling valuable cargo between government mission planets.
Preferably avoiding Pirates and Black Holes while doing so.
He hopes to celebrate the new year with getting enough money to buy a new ship to house at least 4 probes.

XCOM: Enemy Within

The soldiers took some much-needed shore leave on a beach in south-east Asia (perhaps Bali?) to celebrate New Years, knowing that it could well be the last. They partied hard, though things got a bit complicated when one of the MEC Troopers lost his coat ticket at the nightclub and had to leave without his armour. Also, one of our assaults got it away with a local girl who we suspect may have actually been a Thin Man. We were going to court-martial him for dereliction of duty and potentially giving away state secrets, but he's our only soldier with Lightning Reflexes and Close Combat Specialist, so we can't really afford to let him go.

XCOM didn't need much in the way of fireworks, as our new fleet of Firestorms did a pretty good job of lighting up the sky with exploding UFOs.

Link would continue his journey to find Navi, although with renewed strength from the knowledge he helped save another world and made new friends along the way.

The chosen undead walked slowly up to the palace of Anor Londo. After many battles, trials, and many, many deaths, he would see the daughter of Gwyn, receive the lordvessel, and choose wether the cycle will continue or the world be sunken into darkness.......

But first Ornstein and Smough came and yelled "what up dude! Keg party! Wooooo!"

And the chosen undead made out with Quelaag. After playing Mario Kart with the 4 Kings but before twister with Nito, who used the many hands of the skeletons on his body to cheat..... Ohhhh that Nito....

Freedom Planet

Lilac would race a new year eve theme level (probably that Zao level). When she reach the end of the level, she inside a building with Carol, Milla and co waiting for her as they celebrate the new year.

Graham used his charm and enthusiasm to get all the residents of Daventry together and with the help of Olfie and the Hobblepots, they set off some weird (if somewhat controversial and frankly, very dangerous) fireworks. They pleased everyone - Amaya liked the sound, Wente liked the colours and Graham just likes everyone. Then they all ate lots of food that Wente made and Amaya got roaring drunk off raisin juice after winning in a drinking contest against WHISPER, all while Knights #1 and #2 were arguing about whose idea it was to start the celebration in the first place.

Then they forgot to shut the town door and everyone had to go home early because their night was ruined by displaced Wedzel wolves who were upset at the sound the fireworks made.

Also there was an incident involving Mr. Fancycakes buuuuuut the less said about that majestic unicorn, the better.

[[ And thus the old King Graham finished his story about his first New Years in Daventry - the most important lesson Gwendolyn got out of it was that there should be more fireworks. In the shape of dragons. ]]
