naruto ultimate ninja games.

once you've got the basics down and you can teleport behind the opponent,
your equel with any opponent.

game doesn't work as a buttonmasher (not that well at least)

X-Com, the original, everthing afterwards was just pathetically difficult or a failure at replicating the classic.

Not exaclty hard to learn at first but getting used to all the Aliens and judging the situation, moving troops correctly, weighing whether to stun or kill, taking effective positions and conserving correct amounts of energy. A lot of factors that can turn against you in well, a turn.

Still fun as hell once mastered and the management aspect compliments the RTS combat brilliantly.

Never saw a username more representative of the user...

OT: RPG's for me. Takes me a short while to get the ball rolling, but when it is, I'm on my way up.

I'd say some of the fights in FFXIII work that way. Once you figure out what the good team combo and paradigm deck is for a particular fight, it's a cakewalk. I remember one fight was kicking my ass until I realized that since the boss couldn't be slowed, cursed, OR knocked up into the air, that having Fang in my party was a total waste. I replaced her with Vanille, and the boss just sort of... melted.

No, someone didn't have to say it. I'm sure there are millions of things you could have said but, no you had to say the old "Your mum" joke. Seriously get some originality.
Excuse me for hurting your butt. You took it personally, and thus fed the troll. Well done!

Oh, and on a more serious note, I call trolling to be hard to learn, but easy to master.
^_^ Indeed

Oddly, for me it was Portal.
It took a while to get used to the controls of the puzzles and how they worked but once I'd figured that out I blitzed through them with ease.... most of the time. Sometimes I would still spend twenty minutes scratching my head in bewilderment, but if you ask me that's the mark of a good puzzle game.

Company of heroes or supreme commander. Man they confused the hell out of me when i first played them.
For me, tf2 was a bit hard to learn as well because it was difficult to figure out what was best against what, and what weapons to use once you aquired new ones.
