I was inspired to make this thread because I just decided to kill; Skyrim Spoiler:
Parthuurnax in Skyrim, but It took me like two days to finally make the decision to kill him.
So, what's the hardest decision you've ever had to make in a video game?

Dude spoilers!

OT: whos side do i choose in SMT: Nocturne! So many sides so little time , my first playthrouh i fucked up and didn't side with no one , i got the worst ending possible ( and debatavly worst ending of any game i played ). I didn't even get to fight the final boss , it was basically: " you have no reason , you suck , nothing happened, THE END ." , But it was all my fault though , many times i had a chance to chose and i jusy didn't.

That was a pretty easy decision honestly.

Help the people who have done nothing to help me throughout the entire game, or side with the fucking dragon that is possibly one of the few interesting characters in the game and helped quite a bit. The Blades really don't give a great reason for why Paarthunax has to die, and it really sucks that you're locked out of their faction/radiant quests if you decide to spare Paarthunax. You can't even talk with them much about it, one of the few places where that game could have an important speech check.

Yeah, that was one of the few gaming decisions where I actually felt attached to a character and didn't want to kill them. Great job Bethesda on making an interesting character!

Alpha Protocol had a few really hard choices (there is a really hard one in the last mission in Italy) also what to do in Legion's loyality quest in Mass Effect 2.

That choice between the two thugs in GTA IV

The choice between the really rich thug and the one who had just gotten out of jail and pretty much had his life ruined. It was a superficial choice, money over "the right thing", but the characterization made it feel all the more real.

Actually, a lot of the choices in GTA IV were some pretty difficult choices--for me, at least.

Killing Rosh Penin in JK:JA. Forgiving him would be benevolent and stuff, but he deserved to have some manner of punishment. But then again, killing him was a tad harsh.

I killed him in the end because he was annoying little twerp.

The only hard decision in gaming is this... Stay up and only get little sleep because this game is so great, or, go to bed like a responsible adult so i can get sleep before work.

Fuck the responsible adult thing, ill catch a nap on my lunch break.

Thanks, Skyrim comes tomorrow and between this and 3 other threads without spoiler alerts I know half the names of people who will die during the main quest.

Well..
I killed the rich one, just so I could get his crib; even though Dwayne whined like a *****.

Most recent I can remember was during the Forensics part of Trauma Team (Wii) one sec, its a spoiler.
I had to solve several puzzles in a room with a bomb in it, because I was tracking down some chick with Viral Hemoragic Fever who went insane and planned to kill the President. During these puzzles if I screwed up even once it would trip the bomb and I would have to start all over. Needless to say I called on my old buddies 'pencil and paper' to help me remember, but the final puzzle made me nearly snap my wiimote because it seemed I could never choose right.

Other than that most decisions seem like sad lil quandries, choosing new gear/paths, to kill or not to kill, but it all seems moot next to deadly puzzles like those in Trauma Team or Phoenix Wright.

I think GTA IV is the only game that's ever made me stop, and really think about what choice to make.

If you're going to quote a spoiler and complain about it, put it in spoiler tags.

OT: I can't really remember any specific choices, but whenever I have to choose between killing a character or not killing them when they've done both good and bad things, or didn't mean to do what they have, I always have trouble making a decision.

The hardest in-game decision I ever made?

Letting Ronald Sung die to save hundreds of people who would otherwise die in the riots that followed. (Alpha Protocol)

then again he had it coming, who says you can't wear a bulletproof vest UNDER your clothes

Not to spoil anything, but a certain choice between exterminating or brainwashing the geth comes to mind.
I chose exterminate. Thought of it as putting them out of their misery before said misery occured.
