The hardest games i've played were Battletoads and Punch Out on the NES, easiest game i've played through is probably Quack Attack on N64 or Final Fantasy X
Anyone who says FFX obviously never tried to fight the bonus monsters at the calm lands.
was a couple of years back, but as i remember it i did everything possible, all the extra stuff and such, wasnt hard

For hardest I'd have to go with Hunter: The Reckoning (Xbox), as it took us over 5 hours to beat a single level, and there were four people playing (though you share lives).
Hunter was tricky, but there is a trick to winning it.

NEVER USE YOUR MELEE. EVER.

It takes for goddamn ever, but just stand back and spam your guns and you'll beat the game first try. Although I will say it was pretty hard to get the bad ending. You had to try.

Has anyone played Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine?

It was impossible on the higher levels
Yes! That game was impossibly hard! I couldn't get past the second level.

When I was a little kid, my mom used to play that game. She used to babysit a bunch of other kids. Even though she had much more important stuff to do and she probably thought we'd want to play on the Sega Genesis, we always forced her into playing it just so we could watch her and cheer her on. She got to some pink blob guy and was stuck on him forever. When she finally beat him and a couple more guys she got to Robotnik himself. What a climactic showdown. She was also really damn good at Sonic Spinball. Damn, though. She got to the last level and started wailing on the boss but lost right after that.

Since the N64, though, I haven't been able to get her to play any other games though. I figured she'd like Portal, but she can't seem to hold the mouse and use WASD very well.

Easiest-Twilight Princess. It baffled me to think the same series that produced Zelda and Zelda II could have a game this easy. I put every limitation I could on myself. 3 hearts, no specials other than the one you need, and bottles of lantern oil and I still yawned through it.
Hardest- Tougher. Probably Mario Bros. 3. I just can't do it. Something has to go wrong for me, it feels like the game is making me lose on purpose. Maybe I just having grinded it out for 8 years like some others, it just hurts to play it.

Hardest: Old school games like Dragon Warrior on the NES back in the day...(probably had much to do with how old I was at the time..haha) and Dragon's Lair on the commodore 64. I can't remember specifics, but I do remember this one freakin part where I kept dying and couldn't get past it..it frustrated me to tears! And Top Gun fucking drove me INSANE! I'm thinking that's where my anger issues stem from...Actually I was talking to a friend about that the other day. He told me that you aren't supposed to follow what the game told you as you tried to land. WTF?! -_- Yea. I hated that game. And I would still play it, frustrating myself even more.

oh yea, and beatmania IIDX. i could only play on light 7...
Easiest: all the sonic games. lol. There was no challenge to them at all. That and the Little Mermaid on the NES. Don't ask. My best friend at the time had me play it...Now that I think of it, Parasite Eve was too (with the exception of the Chrysler building... xP)

Easiest: Shogun: Total War, Naginata + Monks + Muskets = Victory within 1 minute of enemies getting into combat.
Also Age of Empires2, The AI gives up after ten minutes unless on hardest.
The Moon Project, At the easy and medium difficulties, I can set a skirmish map as 1 v 11 and still come up top dog, on hard I need to scale it back to 1 v 7. Not sure if that applies to others as most people I talk to about the game whine on about being pumelled by three computers at once.

Hardest: Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure, such an awesome story and world, but so terrifyingly evil jumping puzzles, not to mention they teleport uber Grobo Clones with one-hit-KO homing guns, that pass through solid brick walls.
Anything called Prince of Persia.
UFO Aftermath, UFO: Aftershock, and most likely UFO:Afterlight, except I've yet to play that one, but I've been assured its just like its predecessors.

Hardest: Homeworld 2. They literally count up your army and resources at the end of the mission, determine what ships you focused on, and give the enemies the counters to those ships in significantly greater numbers. Yeah. That's fair. Pretty much the only way to get through the campaign is to sell all your ships at the end of each mission, so the enemies have about 2 fighters at their disposal instead of colossal fleets built specifically to destroy yours.
That explains why 5 minutes into every level I get rushed by a billion bomber squadrons and anti-cruiser gunships/corvettes.

Easiest: World of Warcrap. Hands-down. There's no skill or strategy involved. That's a game that you can pick up in an instant and be as good as all of the other 13-year-old kids in no time flat.
How about you actualy try to play the harder parts of the game instead of spouting mis-informed bullshit?

A couple of selections of easiest and hardest:

For the top 5 hardest games i've played: (In no particular order)

Donkey Kong: I've never gotten past the first level, which to some gamers is a real social faux par, a sign that I might not be a true gamer... But fuck that.

System Shock 2: The impossible difficulty is exactly as prescribed. A lack of ammo, items, insane enemies made me abuse quickload and quicksave like my john thomas on a lonely saturday night. (much like this one)

Guitar Hero III: The final set of songs on expert are fucking impossible, and this is strange from someone who has managed to 5 star the previous titles. (I'm not particularly proud of that, when that time could have been use playing my real guitar and actually being able to play reigning blood)

Wipeout 2097, Wip3out, and Wipeout Pure: Whilst on the lower levels, wipeou seems rather placid, phantom class has reamed me over and over again, only to have me crawl back for more. I cannot move things that quickly without some rather expensive and illegal substances.

N & N+: On the free PC version of this there is over 300 levels. I have only reached level 22, and this game threatens my sanity at every turn.

My top 5 easiest games:

Gears of War (Co-Op): Oh yes, there were points where this game was kicking both my friend and my own asses at the same time with steel toed shoes, but for all intensive purposes, was a very easy game, especially compared with the FUCKING HORRIBLE controls of most console shooters. The amount of times I have had my ass handed to me by consolers at halo is insane, yet as soon as it's PC time, victory is mine. But Gears of War, piss easy.

Max Payne 2: Brilliant game, but far too easy. a 10 completion time isn't unheard of.

Need For Speed Underground 2: A horribly sub-par series which a retarded monkey could finish, needlessly extened with no real sense of acheivement in the end.

Wipeout Fusion: Reducing the previously brilliant formula of the previous wipeout games to nothing, and stripping every bit of skill out and replacing it with weapons was not a wise decision. Every race can be won with rockets, or a plasma bolt. No skill at all required.

There's probably a lot more I've missed, but my phone is rining with a possible booty call.

Damn, just another telemarketer.

Hardest: I Wanna Be The Guy.

It's meant as a homage to all those evilly hard platformers that you grew up on. When you play it for the first time, having never seen anyone else play it, you will die in anywhere from five to seven seconds.

Honorable mention: Call of Duty 4.

It contains my pet peeve of shooters, ESPECIALLY ones trying for some semblance of realism: infinite bad guys. I came to loathe the TV station as I watch the sixth incarnation of Jihad McBad climb out of a fucking broom closet. Yeah, no.

Easiest: There are a lot of easy games out there. World of Warcraft is in the running, along with most MMOs, but they are never really intended to be hard until endgame. Still, World of Warcraft's endgame is pretty damn simple: the 'brick walls' come from not having ground your eyes out for whatever resistance you need, not from a real challenge. Individual jobs in raiding pretty much come down to "don't stand in the fire".
As for the PvP aspect, remember that the majority of your victims couldn't figure out "don't stand in the fire".

How about you actually calm down and not swear next time? I find it's not very easy to converse with World of Warcrap fanboys (read: worshippers) because you never actually listen. Actually, I believe someone came up with a good post on the "What is a fanboy?" thread saying that the only form of defense for fanboys is attack. You guys never come up with good points, and all you ever do is defend it with either useless points such as "WoW has the biggest fanbase" (which I can rebut), or "WoW has the best graphics" (which I ROFL at).

Now, in an actual rebuttal to your comment, "How about you actualy try to play the harder parts of the game instead of spouting mis-informed [unnecessary curse word]?", I can really only say that the game doesn't really get easier. There's no really big downside to death unless you die about 100 times in a row. All of the early quests can be easily soloed because they all involve things like "Kill X-amount of monster" or "Get X-amount of this item from this monster". Later in the game, raids and whatnot seem challenging, but not challenging enough. Okay, well, maybe WoW isn't the 'easiest' game I've ever played, but it is the most simple, easiest to learn, and least skill-required game I've ever played.

Have you not played Wii Sports? I look at WoW and say "WTF is all that stuff on screen" and "What does "WoW lingo like Aggro" mean?"

Have you not tried Wii Golf? That shit is hard. Also, so is boxing and baseball when you get into the incredibly high levels.

FFXIclopedia Slang/Term Dictionary said:
Aggro
(n.) A shortening of "Aggressive (behavior)". This term refers to the behavior of an enemy approaching and attacking, as opposed to your attacking first. See Aggro. "After sneak wore, he got aggro from the crab."
(v.) To gain an aggressive monster's attention or ire. "The crab aggroed him after his sneak wore."

You left out the incredibly easy Wii Tennis and Bowling. Boxing is very easy I beat all the A.I Miis by moving the wii mote and nunchuk side to side fast and doing the slow mo punch.
Baseball is extremly easy considering you can get in the high 90s by flicking your wrist very fast. Golf is difficult the first time then it is very simple.
