Seymour 2 from FFX.
it took me soo long to realize that he was vunerable to poison damage.
i want that 4 months of my life back.
Ya don't say I recently popped that back into my PS2 and started up a save just after Operation Mi'hen, killed Seymour, Evrae, and Seymour 2 all on the first try Cid didn't even get a chance to shoot missles at Evrae it died so fast (But 50 strength a Miracle Drink and Slice & Dice will do that)

Hardest enemy eh? Uhhh yeah thanks to that guy talking about FFX only one that comes to mind is Evrae in my very first play through lost so many damn times then I accidently made a Trio of 9999 and kicked ass
I recall FFX. I could never beat the scorpion thing. My idiot cousin had to use Yuna's summon before the boss fight with it and then my dumbass cousin turned the game off! I just ragequit after that. So, I suppose the scorpion thing was the hardest enemy I've ever faced, besides myself.
Scorpion thing? I'm sorry but even I someone who has poured over 1000 hours into the game am not sure what exactly you're referring to (mostly since I actually know the fiend names and don't have to make generalizations) the only thing that comes to mind is Sin Spawn Gui, or Ultima Buster if you ever finished the Arena it was the boss during the Opeation Mi'hen debacle when they use the forbidden machina to try and kill sin other then that I have no clue killing it really isn't too hard before the fight get Wakka's strength up or Lulu to her second level spells and have Auron and Yuna in the party it'll go down easy then
Yuna only had her first two summons at the time. You went to this cliff and Auron knew this guy there. Then, the scorpion thing climbed up the cliff. It would block it's face with it's pincers and attack with its tail causing poison damage. Tedious, it was very.

Either Seymour from FFX, Sephiroth from KH, or Lloyd from Legend of the Dragoon (though I'd like to nominate a lot of bosses from that game. Emperor Doyle destroyed my ego as a kid). I'd like it to be known that most prettyboys from a JRPG are hard as hell.

Others include the Armadillo from Ninja Gaiden 2 (especially the double up fight. YOU DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY INDICTATION THAT I SHOULD BLOCK A F*CKING BLAST THAT WOULD LEVEL A CITY!!!), any small swarming enemy, Yggdrasil from Tales of Symphonia (almost everytime you face him, it's after you fight his weaker, but still very tough subordinates. In fact the first time he is the third boss in a row when the second one is so tough that they made beating him optional), the reapers from RE5 (instakill plus no run-and-gun... not fun), either Odin or Hecatoncheir from FFXIII (and the chapter 10 boss), Unlimited Hakuman from BlazBlue, the first colossus from SotC (this is the guy that will decide whether or not you play the rest of the game or give up), Death Claws from Fallout 3, Final Fantasy X's sinspawn scorpion/centipede thing that you fight on the cliffside, and of course Morrigan's mother from Dragon Age: Origins.

Yes. I to this day have yet to beat him.

I also found the end of Valkyria Chronicles as tough. However I love quite a few games for their hard bosses (for example I loved Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2 because they force fed me my own ass so many times).

The toughest though is that guy from You Have To Burn The Rope. I really is impossible to beat him. /sarcasm

It's only hard if you level.

What level were you upon fighting it, because I was 56 or so with basic weapons.

Yeah, that was an eventful fight.
I think I was level 10 or so, and not even understanding how to upgrade weapons yet. I may have to go replay and try this guy at a high level now though.

The final boss on Uncharted 2 on the hardest difficulty. I won't spoil anything, but those who've played it know what I mean.

"4 grenades?! Are you f%@king kidding me?"

Apparently the searchbar is a pretty difficult enemy...
OT: RAAM. Overpowered and impossible on the highest difficulty.

Let me think a little bit.... there's Virgil 3 from DMC3 at Dante must die difficulty, Seymour on Mt.Gagazet.... That other monster just when you are about to enter Zanarkand, summoned by Lady Yunalasca.... But to name the one that drove me mad in my "youth"...Blubber the octopus from Diddy Kong Racing on the N64.

you have no idea how much I lost to that thing

edit: wait, isn't seymour on gagazet Seymour 2 everyone is refering to?... YOU CAN POISON HIM???? I kept reviving everyone after he one shot (well 2 shot actually) and hoped for the best

Sepiroth in the first Kingdom Hearts and the Ice Titan from the same game, running and dodge rolling like a armadillo on cafiene while trying to use Elixars was haaaaaaaaaaaaaard. But still a true gamer relishs a challenge and it made it all the more epic when I finally beat'em'down.
While I agree with Sephiroth, I breezed through the Ice Titan. Now 2 would have been a challenge...

OT: Jak 2's Metal Head boss at the end of the game. Huge blast attacks, waves of little guys, only 4 hits before you die, and each time you retry you start out with whatever ammo amounts you had when you died in the last try. Controller. Biting. Fury.

Oh Doom and the other 2.5D FPSs had so many. Mecha Hitler from Wolfenstein 3D, those red flying head things from Doom, and the water-dwelling squid things from Duke Nukem 3D

*snip*

Also, the poison zombies from the same game. The headcrabs it toss can bring your health to one in a second (only temporarily), it takes lots of ammo to fall, and there overall very creepy.

*snip*
i play half life also and i totaly agree with you except the poison zombies. Sure their pretty creepy and that 1hp this is a pain but i dont find them that hard.

The seymour at Gagazet is actually seymour 3, seymour 2 is the one you fight at Bevelle.
Seymour 3 can be poisoned though. And yes, this battle is immensely frustrating if you don't know that and haven't powerlevelled the whole time.

For me though, the toughest battle I've been in, at least in an RPG is against Th'Uban (a monster arena boss from FFX). He's a color swap of the Sanctuary Keeper (the boss before you get to Zanarkand) who responds to pretty much any action taken against him with a tail swipe that removes all beneficial status effects from everyone in your party, as well as dealing moderate damage. He also has 3 million HP.

I pretty much cheated to beat him. He along with quite a few monster arena bosses are vulnerable to doom. So I just cast that, and defended for the 255 turns it took to take effect >_<

I see, by the way, is Seymour 4 any hard to beat? The third one made me hate it so much that when I saw him in sin I summoned The magus sisters and one shot him... well I pretty much gave up on arena, when I fought Th'Uban... and some others, so if optional boss are part of the tread.. they win
