Neo Exdeath from Final Fantasy V was a ***** to fight, I swear I had to keep using strength up items to keep myself alive. Also The Guy from I wanna be The Guy was a complete pain in the ass.

Virgil, Devil May Cry 3 was pretty hard. It actually took ability to beat him unlike this next guy.

In God of War Ares was just frustratingly cheap.
i could only beat ares on easy.

the whole game i played hard, but by the time ares came up i'd set it to easy.
Idem. I just couldn't win the button mash against him. I hate that kind of mini game.

Also many King of Fighters bosses, specially: Goenitz(96), Rugal(98), Igniz(01), Rugal again (02) and Magaki(XI). Many of these I had to set for 1/3 of the life bar.

Dizzy and Justice for the Guilty Gear series were also difficult but I won over them fairly.

Dulluhan from Golden Sun 2. Still havent killed that douche..........
And yes I consider him a "final boss" because I have killed every main story boss and all the optional ones like star magician and valucar, and yet he still beats me and my two lvl 55+ teams that are the RPG worlds equivalent to the F****** black ops units.

I found neo Exdeath quite easy if you spam Gil toss, and keep dual-casting bahamut. But, without insane job-class abuse, he becomes a hell of a lot harder.

The hardest (cheapest) boss I fought was Jinpachi in Tekken 5. I wont go into it, but I swear the whole street could hear me swearing. And this was on easy.

Whole end of Ninja Gaiden 2. You fight a boss while fighting enemies at the same time, he drains you so fighting the 3 part boss RIGHT AFTER him is difficult.
This. That entire game was a heaping helping of frustration, and the end didn't falter in that regard.

I measure the difficulty of a boss by my swear words per sentence so the two way tie belongs to the ultimate Ninja Series:

Orochimaru in Ultimate Ninja 2. You spend the whole game playing as Naruto, leveling him up, getting upgrades, improving your stats. Then on the last boss they give you 9 Tailed Naruto who has base 0 stats, no upgrades and can't be leveled. Orochimaru has fast regenerating health, fast regenerating chakra, and has the bonus attack/speed/defense buff on top of maxed stats and of course it's an ultimate ninja game so on the hardest difficulty he used substitution jutsu on 9 out of your 10 attacks.

Itachi in the Ultimate Ninja PSP game... FUCK. I not only lost my voice from yelling, but broke the game disk and the joystick on my PSP. And that was on very easy difficulty setting. The difficulty on that game was the most foul thing I've ever seen.

Everyone seems to say Alpha 152 for DOA 4 but I honestly didn't have much trouble with her.

Hardest boss....can I get away with saying anything from Ninja Gaiden 2?

The Water Elemental in Crash Bandicoot the Wrath of Cortex.

Seriously it took me two weeks and two controllers (I may have gotten angry and tore one of them apart with my teeth, I am not making this up) to get past it. It left me traumatised, although it did teach me getting angry at games is pretty stupid at a young age.
I was pretty young when I first played that so I actually never got past it.

And now I can never play that game again

Not sure about EVER but easily the hardest in recent years for me was probably The Vault Boss at the end of Borderlands, lost all of my money ¬ ¬
Huh? Seriously? I've heard of people killing him without even moving, and I only had to move occationally, beyond that all he was was spamming the left mouse button... Maybe it's just that you have to keep your distance?

Gaia in Orphen: Scion of Sorcery, never could beat that damn thing! >.<

For bosses I have defeated...that boss in the optional dungeon in Eternal Sonata. I did it first go, but it took all my meds to stay alive.

Ozma in FFIX.
Not a final boss per se, but it is the hardest.
Hardest/cheapest boss ever.
That fight is 90% luck.
Have you tried some of the other FF Super bosses? Ozma is one of the easier ones (at least he was for me). His low health is his undoing.

Try Omega in either FFV or FFVIII... Or Omega XIII in FFXII. Those are HARD fights.
I've only ever beaten Omega in FFVIII while drunk off my ass (drunk master, I am).
I had more trouble with Ultima than I had with Omega in VIII, probably due to my level..
And because I spent most of the Ultima fight surviving while trying to draw the GF..
And Ozma was certainly harder than any of those two.

It was more the fact of the little pod things that it fires, took me ages to realize how to stop them lol >< also some how (might be the class mod) my sniper rifle can never run out of ammo. But yeah I wouldn't say games really have a major boss anymore, I would however Say that the boss at the end of Metal Gear Solid gave me some trouble when I was younger or possibly Lou (Expert) on Guitar Hero III.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but marluxia from kingdom hearts, chain of memories for gba. Then again, I put all of my experience into health and not cards.
Same thing happened to me in the original Paper Mario. *sniff* Poor single player tanks, no DPS to help'm out. :(

Probably Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2.

Why? Because most of the fighting area is drenched in water, and if you fall into the water you have to start over. Also, that forcefield limits your movements.
