You have problem with Seth?

Do this. Put it on easiest settings. Because the moment I put mine on Medium is when I'm in hell.

Then pick pretty much any character.

Jump towards him, do a high kick, then when you land you do a crouch high kick. Then jump back and repeat this over and over till he dies.
With some characters you can easily pull off upper cut moves if they use the normal Hadoken+high punch move.

Some characters though are harder to pull it off better with. But I did this on all characters.

Cheap? Yes, but we are talking about a guy who teleports and like instant grab you. I perfected Seth with this tactic and it puts a smile on my face.

As for hardest? Well Devil May Cry 3 and 4 on harder settings are just brutal. In the first one I had to cheat and buy full health potions and I STILL used most of them on the hardest setting. Seriously, who would collect that many souls for max potions?

Death Egg, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Especially as Knuckles.
Oh god, I know.
OT: The Ark from Final Fantasy IX. Zidane, Vivi, and Freya were KO'd; the only one left was Eiko. If I used a pheonix down, the bastard would insta-kill the revived person. Oh, and Eiko was confused about 3/4 of the time. But I won (eventually)!
And yes, it did take an obscene amount of time.

King of Shadows (NWN2) was kinda hard because my computer had and overheating issues back then and I was a wizard and the game told me to swing a sword!

I did.

I clocked in over 50 hours on Dante Must Die mode on DMC3 alone.

100+ hours overall. The timer on the save game menu hit 99:99:99 so I couldn't give you an exact amount of time.

I'm going to mention a penultimate boss in a game and go for the last Devil Hand fight. It's right up there with the fights against Virgil in DMC3 as being awesome and hard as hell without resorting to cheapness.

Why thank you ^_^.

Yeah I strive to do my best at challenging games and the Devil May Cry games are some of the most challenging out there.

That and I'm a MASSIVE DMC fanboy.

That's an easy question - last boss in Baldurs Gate, Sarevok. Even at max level with some awesome weapons and a full team of 6 you had almost no chance of beating him. I did win in the end though - I lured him away from his allies and he proceeded to destroy my entire team with one hit kills (they actually exploded!) and then I ended with my main character running away while firing his bow back at Sarevok every couple of seconds. Just as it all looked hopeless suddenly he fell and I quite literally cheered! It was epic :)

Well done, I have never beaten him and I have tried many a time.

For me, it was back in the days of ye-olde-8-bit. The final demon boss in Ninja Gaiden. The boss was hard, but I had trouble just getting to him, I found the last stage to be quite difficult. I'd struggle my way through the stage, just to be killed by the boss and start the stage all over again. The only time I've ever beat the game is by using save states on zsnes. So, I never really beat the game.

Note: First post on the escapist, woo!

Generally it is Japanese games that get the hard final bosses. RPGs are a notable exception to that rule, since the hardest boss in those games is usually an extra rather than the final plot-based battle, like Dullahan in Golden Sun, or Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts.

Capcom games are really the hardest among modern commercial release games. Devil May Cry 4's Hell or Hell Mode comes into mind (no, not Heaven or Hell, this is a ridiculous extra mode on top of that one) though there are legions of people who've beaten it. The final boss for Nero is something you could do without getting hit with practice, so it's more Dante's final boss, a whole mission you spend cutting up bits of the boss, that's harder (because there are other enemies involved, and the whole stage can get beaten away, killing you in HoH).

The Tyrant in Resident Evil Remake while playing as Jill was absurdly hard as well, particularly when he realises that he can SPRINT at you with a GIANT CLAW while being a good seven feet tall and therefore really fast, forcing you to wrestle with the really slow running and bad controls of your character and try to dodge at the last second.

Exactly it was pretty much impossible to beat Virgil on DMD mode without using the beowulf's.
Not true, Beowulf is unnecessary. Try using the Royal Guard style well. Build up enough energy in that, and you can pretty much one-hit Vergil with the counter move. I've seen it done. Another good weapon is Cerberus; the rolling sideways attack is very hard for Vergil to dodge once he's reeling from any first attack.

I would have to say Jet Force Gemini Mizar. I do not think I ever ended up beating that game. Second place would be Virgil from Devil May Cry 3.

Zaxx. Dizzy.

Play through the whole game, get a couple of chances if you're lucky. His weird fireballs move ten times faster than you can.

Did it though. We really didn't have much else to do.

Thanks, in all honesty it was more luck than judgement. I even sent my mage in as melee cannon fodder so my main character could get just a couple of extra shots in. He is so ridiculously strong it's actually not fair that the level cap is so low! I lost count of how many times I tried it. That was almost 10 years ago now. Brilliant game

Well...Nyx from P3 was already mentioned. Not really "hard", but time consuming, and if you went into it late at night like I did, you could potentially lose all of your progress (5 arcana in and I just lost all high thought...died pretty fast).

Not a final boss, but Eyes of the Crimson Beyond in Perfect World is ridiculous. You get it at around lvl 50, and there are people in the 70's that have trouble with him. Only boss I never tried to solo.

As said, God of War, Ares part 2, never beat it on God mode, that part was SUCH a pain it was just unfairlike...the 1st part was good combat in a one on one, but the 2nd part had you having to protect your family, which was what made it so obnoxious, since they'd die and you'd have full health, or you'd die because you attracted too much attention or gave them half your health and then died from one hit...it was horrible
