it has 27 dungeon levels that fractal off into hundreds of different levels that span over "orc mines" to "demon realms"

the reason I'm giving so much info is because none of you have probably even heard of this game.

If I remember rightly, its Ninja Gaiden 3 on the NES for me. That thing kicked my arse so much, still not sure that I beat it to this day

I couldn't pass the first level. I looked up a complete run, and I believe it to be evidence that the machine has already infiltrated our society. That game is as hard as... a really, really hard thing.[footnote]Insert penis joke here.[/footnote]

For me, a little unorthodox this, it was Tony Hawks: Ride. Mainly because they expected you to actually skateboard. NB, it came with the xbox, and I played it a few times, couldn't get the hang of it. Man, was that a bad investment for my parents.

Any Fire Emblem game on Hard Mode (or any of the many difficulties harder than Hard Mode). I beat I Wanna Be The Guy, but gave up on Maniac mode in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

The hardest games i've played are Castlevania (can't remember which one), Meta Gear Solid 1, mainly because i'm not very good at it and Uncharted 2 on crushing mode. I will probably add Demon's Souls to the list when I get it.
