Hardest boss I ever had to do?

GENERAL RAAM!
I did him on Hardcore but it's just biblical on the insane! If anyone's done this, they are THE GODS or Gears of War. (Well, they're only gods if they have the Seriously Achievement).

I find it easy to beat him tbh, i just enjoy it. either sniping him all stealth like or sneaking up on him equally stealth like. you need to get his attention work out where he shooting from, find a way to sneak up to there crawling and slow walking, use heat vision to watch for foot marks, get close hold him up and tranq him, do it 3 times and you get the best camo in the game followed by the mosin nagant if you can do it all the way through with the tranq
Prehaps i just suck at being sneaky in a MGS game lol since its a stealth based game, the first time i played i was so confused on what to do spent 10 minutes listening to Zero expecting him to say plug your controller in the second port so he can't see what your doing!

I'm great at Smash TV. I've actually been through it without dieing once.
I don't believe you. Not one bit.

Jesus the amount of times i was killed by that fucking wall, some grinding later boom! i won
I found the hardest thing about it to be the fact that you were locked in a small room with VERY limited grinding against enemies with bad exp reward. Made levelling to beat him hard. I actually restarted to grind before him to beat him.

Really? I found him to be one of the easiest bosses in the game, and Dante to be much, much harder.
Really? I thought he was annoying due to his shield that you had to knock down. He was easy enough once I got the aerial stinger-like move to get to him quicker, and once I learned his patterns. But It was annoying at first. In contrast I found Dante to be easy enough. Just got close and used the throw moves really.

On my first play through I found this boss difficult, but on subsequent visits I haven't had any problems. (Side Note: Wasn't there a special tactic or something that killed him easily, throwing an item or casting a curative magic against him?)

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate, whilst not exactly a boss but whenever the special nightcrawlers came out that even in slo-mo were incredibly fast and moved out of the way of 90% of your shots. I ended up having to run up to them with a shotgun and shoot them about 6 times in the head before they died... or use explosives.

Whilst not the most difficult it was just a culture shock considering how easily the other enemies in the game die. Heh, just remembered the actual boss where you kill the head nightcrawler. I ran up to him in slo-mo and stood firing point blank at his head with a mini-gun. It took about 200 rounds (usually 10 to kill a normal), complete with 3 turrets shooting him, 4 grenades and 3 proximity mines. It wasn't difficult, just infuriating.

Another honourable mention goes to the final boss on Crysis. Not because he's difficult but because I'm playing it on a seriously outdated laptop that was about to play it on 800x600 with everything set to low with minimal slowdown. However that boss was simply 'hmm... lets just try to render everything and slow the computer to hardly playable'. I was so happy when I finished that.

I think time magic worked against him such as slow, I can't remember so don't quote me on that
For me it was all about the limit breaks

The End is one of my favorite bosses ever. So original and fun as well.

Hmmm, hardest boss. Longest would have to go the egg dragon from lufia II on the SNES. He took forever. You had to be level 99 as well in order to be able to beat him and still it took absolutely ages. Ruby weapon was not far behind. (Lots of J-RPG and/or DMC bosses on this thread I see).
That scorpion from DMC1 was ludicrously hard as well on any of the higher difficulties, but then again you could say that about any DMC boss on any DMC game when the difficulty is ramped right up.
There's an old SNES rpg called equinox which was some stupidly hard bosses, mainly because its a one hit kill thing.
Travalyn from Goldeneye was virtually impossible on 00 agent, but this is probably more the level than anything else.

Favorite bosses... hmm,
5) Scorpion from DMC1, despite being almost impossible.
4) Ganon from Ocarina of Time was brilliant fun, that one was also pretty hard as well
3) The Boss from MGS3. The music which plays makes this fight so emotional... and you have to pull the trigger in the end...
2) Don't know if it counts as a boss per-se, but the end of Half Life 2 episode two with the striders and hunters is one of the funnest and most breathtaking experiences out there.
1) Flamie from Secret of Mana, so sad you have to kill that poor dragon. He was your friend. Fantastic midi music as well, I have it on my ipod even

I'm kind of surprised that there's been no mention of Ninja Gaiden yet. One word: ALMA. Goku and the mega-boss you need to beat towards the end are very difficult too.

As well as this I've got to say that the boss from level 3 of Ikaruga. I can get all the way up to that point without losing a life and just get wiped out by the bastard!

The basic strategy (for me at least) was to cast Slow on the boss then caste Haste on your party. Then just beat him senseless.

I've taken him down on insane difficulty. Took a few tries of course, but I managed to put him out of his misery. Don't have the Seriously achievement, though. And thank God for that.

Don't believe me for all I care because I know it's true (times like these you wish you had recorded it).

I did it on split screen at my friends house (it took 4 or 5 tries but we didn't really know what weapons to use) but I guess it must be a lot harder on your own.

I can usually get a few good hits on him after he uses that ground wave move where he yells out "Repent!" or "You will fail!" He was a hell of a pain in the ass on Dante Must Die difficulty though.

Him: Repent!
Nero: (Snatches shield)
Him: (Flies out of range, one of those flying blade thingies charges up)
Nero: (Double jumps to avoid flying blade thingy)

Dante was a pain in the ass because he had a seemingly random chance to dodge/get out of your throws. Plus his sword attacks were faster than yours. Occasionally I'd counter his Stinger with a well-timed Shuffle (where Nero dashes back, then dashes forward and attacks), but it would do a piddly amount of damage.

Tomb Raider Legend's final boss on hard.
I've manage to defeat everything else on that level, but it is really hard to get past the creature.

I am totally unsure of what the hardest boss I've come across is, but to answer your second question on my favourites it would have to be:

-Praying Mantis (MGS1) - a boss that requires interaction OUTSIDE of the game to beat him, pure win.

-Leviathan (Dead Space) - strangely enough... I don't know... I just really enjoyed that fight.

Haha... Yeah that's true. I'm just being stubborn as I can't fathom how it's possible. I played it for about 3 days solid a month ago with a friend and we couldn't get past world 3.

We can get past World 1 without dying ok, but world 2? With the buffaloes? Damn.
