Has a Game Ever Embarrassed You To the Point Where You Stopped Playing It?

Hasn't stopped me while already playing, but it's the sole reason I haven't touched Bayonetta.

The tone of that game is just so... eh. I love me some weird Japanese things (Persona, Deadly Premonition), but that game just goes too far. I just want to roll my eyes every time I see her.

It's sad, because if that game's tone were different, I'd be singing it's praises.

Nope. For some reason I am so embarrassed by things in movies and shows, but when I do them in video games, it is apparently totally justified in my minds eye.

Getting the gay robot in Fallout New Vegas was quite possibly the most akward thing that happend for me in any game for a while, but i didnt stop playing it for that. i stopped playing it because i eventually just got bored of it. so yea, to answer the original post, no i've never quit a game based solely on that.

I haven't stopped playing a game from embarrassment yet, but there is a cutscene in FFX that I mute ever time I get to it. It's the one where Tidus and Yuna are standing on an overlook on the way out of Luca and she's trying to get him to act happy even when he's sad, and the laughter sounds were so revoltingly poorly voiceacted that I just can't sit through it.

I can accept the actions of a character in a game if they feel appropriate to the persona that's been cultivated for the character. That's probably why I can play as Kratos, Bayonetta, Agent 47 or Travis Touchdown and (for the most part) not feel too self-conscious: these characters do some pretty horrible things, but their personalities are so consistent with their actions that I never have enough cognitive dissonance to stop playing.

The closest I've ever come to doing something similar was during House of the Dead: Overkill. The game actually has some pretty funny and clever lines here and there, and the running commentary during play is generally fine, but at a certain point (the cutscene between 4th and 5th of the 7 chapters, I think) I came very close to just skipping ahead (which I never do the first time through). The combination of nonstop profanity and the intentional stupidity of the characters themselves went from vaguely amusing to migraine-inducing. Thankfully, the game pulled itself together a bit after that.

And the little mermaid level in Kingdom Hearts 2.

But that was just one level...

Too bloody sad that i HAD to do it to beat the game, though.

Lots of spots in Conker's bad Furday (I played the remake but same thing).

The flower chick, the caveman arena fight and the bat parts are all a little overly crude not that it's a problem cause I still played it cause that games fucking awesome but yeah.

The scene in FFX that above meantioned xD

It's Nether, as Notch didn't want to imply any religious tones by officially calling it Hell (even though that's the colloquial name for it in the community).

As for the topic; not yet I don't think.

Well, not a single game comes to mind, give me the wierdest game you can come up with and I'll gladly play it in public.

Well, now that someone brought it up, yeah, Conker's Bad Fur Day. I played it and finished it with my cousin and when we reached to the sunflower, the first thing I did was to mute the damn TV, 'cause we were playing in my sister's bedroom (I don't quite remember why the N64 was in my sister's bedroom in the first place), so yeah, sunflowers making funny noises kind of embarrassed me back then. And munching the ass of a huge caveman and then revealing his tiny dick. And slapping the brass testicles of a huge boiler with bricks. And throwing toilet paper at a huge mountain of poo who can also sing opera. In fact, I want to play that damn game again, right now.

Final Fantasy 13. I got goddamn sick of that one song, and all those, "ooh" "ahh" "uh?" sounds Vanille kept making drove me insane.

Oh god... I remember that... and at the time I was too naive to realize HOW bad it was until years later when I replayed it and found myself cringing at the "AHHH HA HA HA HAAAAaaahh hahh... hah."

Will to Fight? The BGM of the Ark chapter? That's one of the better songs in the soundtrack imo.Though it does drone on and on since the level is so crawlingly slow.

Duke Nukem. I was playing it and I was in the bit with the strip club and my 6 year old cousin comes into my basement. Basically, silence ensued and i quickly stopped playing.

Bulletstorm comes to mind. Drinking beer for bonus points just felt so juvenile... although the PC version of that game had a whole host of other problems that kept me from playing for long.

The Witcher 1's (and 2 I suppose, havn't played it) almost made me face-palm-quit when I saw the tremendous knockers on the first female character in the game...

Edit: When I was growing up, I would wait until my mom finished using the computer in the same room as my PS2 before I played Final Fantasy X-2... Or I'd purposely delay changing Riku into gambler costume if I thought she might see...

I nearly broke my skull leaping forwards to turn off the PS3 when I reached the Lust section of Dante's Inferno and my little brothers were watching: I could only play that bit whenever the house was empty and felt really pervy even though I wasn't oggling the Daemonette things.

Hercules for PS1 is not going to see use for a while, not because I don't like it, but because most people get weird looks for playing a children's game.

Project Rub on my DS. Its a collection of minigames based around this girl who is apparently "your love". Starts out good, with mostly touch screen minigames, but I dropped it after they asked me to yell that I love this silouehtte over the microphone.
