NieR made me cry.

Whenever the father and Yonah are laying down in the grass, and Yonah began to mimic how her father was laying down. They look into the sky say some words, then the credits roll. I was so very happy that they were back together again that I cried!

Fantastic game! There are still more endings, too...

Tears of sorrow or despair, no.

Tears of pure, unbridled, "wow, that was awesome" joy? Twice. Final Fantasy VI, when Celes finds Locke's bandana (and you should know the scene that explains why that moment's so moving), and FF9's ending.

I never cried but I did feel emotional/touched by certain game moments:
Shadow of the Colossus;
Enslaved: Journey to the West;
Recent Bioware games.

I've gotten close to crying due to video games on two occasions.
1.)When Johnson died in Halo 3 (noooooo!).
2.)A certain part of Beyond Good and Evil.
When the pig (kinda) died.

Yes, once...but not for the story or charactor development but for how bloody short it was.
Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 was so damn short that I nearly cried from laughing so hard when I finished the game in one sitting in less than 5 hours. Most games last 6-8 hours when I play through them non-stop but this one was really too short.
For once, one of Yahtzee's critizisms for a game was spot on 100%.

No fictional medium have ever made be shed tears but a few have come close.

Yup. A good number of times. Half Life, Episode 2. Those of you who played it. you guys know what parts I'm talking about, I'm pretty sure. ;-;
...This one being the one that immediately comes to mind. That was an unexpected and very powerful scene.

The only other one I can remember would be when "Dogmeat" accidentally died in Fallout 3 (none too warranted, but I'm a softie when it comes to loyal dogs), and certain events in Yume Miru Kusuri - a game (or VN) which also takes home the prize for most emotional gaming moment, one of powerless fury fuelled by dread - which hit a little too close to home.

Super Meat Boy, the conclusion to the first boss with the forest fire. Of course, it was half tears of laughter, but those guys know how to tug the heart strings.

Had a tear in my eye at the end of The Sands of Time.

And RDR? No. Partly because it was so obviously going to happen (why else would I be forced to endure more herding BS, other then for something disastrous to happen?), and partly because I was so pissed off at the pacing.

It takes forever for any real story elements to happen all throughout the game (the pacing is dreadful), and there are 6 or so missions more, mostly of the worst type (the farm-hand stuff) in a poorly realised attempt at foreshadowing/character building.

It's a very good game, but I'm perplexed by people's fascination with the ending. It's not exactly a new thing.

AND HE COULD HAVE JUST GONE TO MEXICO!

No, but the webcomic "goblins", is based off of dungeons and dragons, and THAT made me cry a ton. It's so god damn good.

[Specially when the giant and the lizard get back together after their brief seperation]

Edit: Oh yeah, Hl2 ep2...forgot about that. Yep, that got me going too.

when I was 12, playing MGS, (spoiler) the moment they shot Meryl and you couldn't do anything about it.
I cried a like a baby, and when I fought Sniper Wolf, I was all psyched up and bloodthirsty for revenge.
good times
edit: also, the ending of SH2, and during most of Angela's story.
yes, I'm a big crybaby.

The ending of Okami got me a bit teary-eyed, but other than that I can't say a game has brought me to that point of emotion :)

Nothing's made me cry full-out, but some games have made me feel...um, khm, very, very sad?
I'm not sure, but i think The Longest Journey had its moments.
