When Roach and ghost get shot. It was so unexpected, i was so shocked. it was only as i was being tossed in the ditch i could comprehend the horror :'( i still dont know why they had to die either...ghost was awesome XD Although i have only only once hated a bad guy more than shepard, and that was in red dead redemption. you know who it is.

Fallout 3. Small skeletons scattered inside an empty school building with dismembered bodies hooked onto a ceiling can really tell you what to expect in a game.
This. That school with the mini-skeletons... ugh.

I guess that <spoiler= Halo Reach Major spoilers> Emile's death shocked me, in a way I expected it, but when he shotgunned that Elite and you thought he was winning, then just behind him the other Zealot comes up... When I went up there I slaughtered the fuck out of those basterds with a vengance, not joking I took not an inch of damage as I killed one, took it's sword and fucked up the rest.
Then I guess at the end when the realisiation that You are the only one left to defend Reach kicks in, and you know he's gotta defend it until he dies, and you realise that he will die.
<spoiler=CoD4 major spoilers> Grigg's death shocked me a bit.
EDIT: This too...

Not shocked as such, but the Strogg factory section of Quake 4 made me go and puke in a toilet then collapse in a dizzied heap on the floor. Personal space invasion indeed.

Quake 4 and the Stroggification. You try and tell me that you WEREN'T shocked as you watched cyborg aliens butcher you until you become one of them.

Edit: GAHHHH! Ninja'd!

I dunno, I thought their ends in Reach were all a bit silly.

But Jorge and Kat especially, you've just taken over a massive starship that weighs tens of thousands of tons with it's own slipspace drive, why all that effort to get the Savannah's one on in the first place? Also, Kat's is plain dumb, not helped that by that point I'd absorbed hundreds, maybe thousands of those rounds without so much as a scratch.

Emile's and Carter's made me laugh, it's never explained how Carter got hurt without the other two getting injured and Emile was telegraphed the moment he said 'I'll cover you,' That's Halo speak for 'I'm going to die horribly now'...

I'll tell ya what shocked me, the fact there wasn't wang physics in Amnesia: The Dark Descent. There was enough penis in it, you would of thought they would of least had the courtesy of giving 'em physics. I joke, although I did check if they had physics. On a serious note, pretty much everything in that game shocked me in some way or another.

My first time through Bioshock, the original one, and I was in Fort Frolic. I literally stopped every couple of seconds to actually absorb what I was looking at while exclaiming, "What, the, Fuck!?" I have never been so absorbed that I literally couldn't get over the
Plaster corpses, especially the family at the dinner table, I starred at that for a solid 15 minutes because I was so shocked at what I was looking at.

Kat's death in Reach. It was so sudden, so utterly unexpected, I believe I actually jumped. Throughout it I was thinking "Wait... what? No... how? She's... really dead?" It took a while to sink in.
Really? When that moment happned me and my friend (we were playing co-op) yelled "Fuck yeah!" we hated her guts.

OT: Batman Arkham asylum, the part where you face the scarecrow for the last time. When the screen fucks up I just let go of the keyboard and mouse and lifted my hands up in the air screaming "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" as I've had that happen to me once before. I was relived when the game continued!

I could pull out my usual visual novel examples, but I think I'll buck tradition and pull out my Tales of the Abyss example.

Seriously, after the sinking of Akzeriuth, watching that little boy, crying and trapped under the corpse of his father, sinking to his death in the miasma...

One of the few times I've ever cried from sheer horror.

If you were even half a man you would watch it. Also, see "Philosophy of a Knife", "120 Days in Sodom" and "Cannibal Holocaust". Those are movies for men.
It always amuses me how people want to turn these kind of discussions into dick-waving contests.

Who is so insecure as to have to contest thier manhood with random people over the internet?

I've seen 120 Days Of Sodom - thought it was crap.

Never saw the other 2 but Cannibal Ferox was laughably bad and I believe it was from the same era and exploitation movement and therefore very similar. The castration scene was kinda fucked up though.
Oh, wow, I really didn't mean it like that. I was just fucking around; but you should still see A Serbian Film.

The ending to Halo: Reach was pretty emotional.
Specifically, the part at the very end, after the credits, where you have to fight off the Covenant for as long as you can, seeing cracks in your visor as you start to take too many hits. Then, in your final moments, the helmet falls off and from its perspective, you see yourself being brutally stabbed and mauled by Sanghelli.
I have to agree with you, it was a great way to end a game. For the first time in a game you felt mortal, like death is hanging over your head like a storm cloud.
It's one of those endings that will stick with you for a long long time...

To be honest, most games dont shock but make an impact nonetheless. Games with twists like Heavy Rain or just epicness like Mass Effect have come close to shocking me, but never had.
Silent Hill 2, tho, did shock me. Every time Pyramid Head turned up to rape another monster, Maria dying (three times!) and any one of the endings, even the joke one, had me in awe. This was becuse the writers had done an exceptional job in getting me to connect with the characters and when u find out the truth about James' wife, I nearly cried!

Bioshock's plot twist was probably one of the first moments I can easily remember (Would you kindly will forever be stuck in my head). Most recently would probably be Red Dead Redemptions ending and a certain character's demise in Halo Reach.

My first real sighting of gore was when a Space Marine got a claw stuck in between his body. This was the Intro for Dark Crusade. Another big shock was when I saw the Big Daddy drilling through Jack's body.

Now I can look at anything! Nothing has really shocked me, except when Raynor gets a bit upset.
