Has a new game ever got you interested in an older game again?

After playing through Doom 3 I became interested in the older games in the series and so bought Doom 2 on Steam, which also got me interested into buying Wolfenstein 3D aswell.

That happens to me all the time. mainly its with RPGs like i just got legaia 2 and now want to play 1. or chrono cross makes me want to take out chrono trigger. also star ocean did that too.

but sometimes if a new game is coming out, I'll play the older game to psych myself up for the new game. like playing a harvest moon game while I wait for th new one just around the corner

Every time I play Half Life 2, it makes me want to play Half Life 1.

Virtually every game I get that is a sequel or heavily influenced by an older game will give me an urge to play the older version if I have it and maybe buy it if I don't.

I played Fallout 3 and NV, so I want to try out Fallout 2. I know the games themselves are way different, but I love the setting and story

I had never originally finished the first Gears of War, but when the scond one was coming out, I decided to try and play the first one again, and I loved it.

Well, Mario and Luigi: Partners in time got me interesting in Superstar Saga.

And Golden Sun got me interested in the newest one, Dark Dawn. I didn't know that they were coming out with it!!

Generally when a new game in a series comes out I got to play the older ones.
When Other M came out I went back and played Metroid Prime (and both are great games,IMO). When FFXIII came out I tried (and failed) to push through FFXII again. When New Vegas came out I went back to Fallout 2.
I always do that, and I'm not quite sure why.

Half Life 2 saga -> Half Life 1

World of Warcraft -> Warcraft 3

Fire Emblem on the GBA has gotten me hooked on the entire series.
Though iv yet to play the ones that haven't been released in the US.

The new Medal of Honor game made me want to replay MOH:AA. The old gal did not disappoint.

Any time they announce a new game or bit of DLC for a Fallout game, I go back and replay Fallout 2... and sigh wistfully.

Playing Persona 4 really got me interested in playing number 3, and Fable 3 makes me want to look into Fable 2.
Also, whenever I play Shadow of the Colossus I have an overwhelming urge to play Ico again if that counts.

Halo: Reach got me wanting to play Halo 3.
Also, Black Ops made me want to play Modern Warfare 2.

After watching someone playing through Call of Duty: Black Ops a few weeks back, it made me go play through MGS3:Subsistence(Snake Eater) again because the one dude that was helping you during one of the missions looked like Big Boss.
