No Surprises by Radiohead
Amazing song.

Anyway on topic: yeah, many times. It actually happened yesterday heh. It was Comfortably numb by Pink Floyd. A while back Cody by Mogwai had that effect on me too.

But the song that has made me cry more than any other has to be Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins.

Nope, but a few have come close, which would be:
Man of the Hour - Pearl Jam
1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
Mad World - Gary Jules (especially it's use on Donnie Darko)

Not often, but it happens from time to time. Recently, I was listening to The Weary Kind, the main theme from Crazy Heart, the day I got back from university. I was pretty down about leaving anyway, and was really missing my friends there, and then up comes the line, "Somehow this don't feel like home any more". That hit hard.

Beautiful song.
This and 'this is gallifrey' when played as a set. I rewatched Doctor Who at the proms and the emotions from these pieces are so powerful you just have to get imersed and indeed cry.

I don't care if you love or hate rap, but this guy tells a heartbreaking story better than almost any other musician of any genre I've ever heard.

this song always gets me, as it just sounds so desolate and bleak, it conjures images of death and fear. Really powerful for me.

Why, yes. Yesterday, in fact. If you don't know the band well, this may take a bit of an explanation: On December 28th, when Avenged Sevenfold was recording their album Nightmare, their drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan was found dead in his home due to an enlarged heart and effects of long-term drug use. This was the last song he ever recorded, and it's seen as a final goodbye to all of his fans, his bandmates, and everybody that supported him. He does the drumming, and along with singer M. Shadows, vocals. Jimmy's vocals are a bit higher and not as raspy, so they're easier to recognize. But anyway, I was listening to it yesterday and it all just hit me how much the song really means, and I couldn't hold it back.
This, but with this song

I agree with you on that one. I like that song and it is sad. Here's another one:

I've always been blown away by the emotion he can create.

Let me just start by saying I don't know how to make polls. So the title says it all, has a song ever had you in tears or about to cry or breakdown? The only songs I can think of that made me cry we're No Surprises by Radiohead and Just the Two of Us by Will Smith.
Yes:
This is the most powerful piece of music I've ever listened to. While getting the link, I was tempted to listen to it through, but I would have started crying. It reminds me of how much I miss my girlfriend. I actually have tears in my eyes right now.

Damn it, this thread will probably indirectly make me cry on the way to work in a few minutes....

Hurt by Johnny Cash made me cry. The video was recorded weeks before his death. Really tells you he was singing from the heart, really haunting.

Oh heck yeah.

Not long after my Mother left my Dad, I was listening to my iPod on the train to College and "Ohne Dich" (Without You) by Rammstein came on and I pretty much broke down there and then.

None of my friends will give it a chance since it's Japanese with subtitles but this song made me cry, and still does every time I listen to it.

I have a habit of giving every song I hear a story and most of them wind up being very sad, often with the hero dieing alone at the end. so the worst offender is soldier side.

Meadows of Heaven kind of gets me as well.

Just listen:

I love these two songs; they make me feel sad.

"What's good about sad?"

It's happy for deep people.

Now We Are Free: by Hans Zimmer
I am Lincoln: By Steven Jablonsky
and Climbing up Iknimiya : James Horner
Oh, and the Inner light theme from Star Trek Next Gen
Oh, and Mou Nani Mo Kowakuni, from the Gundam 00 movie.

None of these really made me cry as such, but they did bring a tear to my eyes, both recently and in days gone by. then again, that was in conjunction with the visual that came with them. Regardless, all of these are moving, even without the movie or show that they came with.
