Yes, so many games I can't even remember all of them. For some reason I think I should never die or fail at anything so pretty much whenever I die in any game I get mad and there is a chance that some controllers or mice might go flying or keyboards snapped in half. Worst had to be when I failed a dragonforce song in GH3 when I only had about 10 notes left, snapped the neck of the guitar in half....

Starting to control it a little more...buying hardware all the time gets expensive.

I've never broken a controller over a game, although I think I've thrown one around every so often when the bastarding thing keeps on killing me. At that point, I usually switch it off for abit as I lose the will to continue at that time.

I was very close to snapping my controller once... I have since learned that when you get to that point turn it off go do something else. mostly because by the stage I can't think straight. and so I'd die again and the cycle would repeat. and a lot of times after I have been away from it for a bit after I come back I just breeae right through that part

I'm usually pretty good, if I get to that level of frustration I'll generally just swear at my console and turn it off in anger, to return a while later once I've cooled now.

However, the exception to this trend seems to be Call of Duty: World At War. That game is so obviously flawed at the higher difficulty levels that it's just silly. So many cheap tactics are used to make the game difficult that I found myself throwing whatever was nearest, usually my controller.
It soon occured to me though, that it wouldn't be long before I'd hit and break my TV or my macbook, two things I couldn't stand to lose. Now I have a soft, miniture rugby ball for the sole purpose of throwing when a game gets too infuriating, something I'd recommend to all my fellow angry gamers.

This week's question is: Has a videogame ever driven you to inflict physical damage on your controller or surrounding environment? If so, which game?
It's embarrassing to admit, but yeah, I've thrown a couple controllers, but never to the point where I actually broke a controller.

I've broken -other- things though.

Anyway, most fighting games used to frustrate me a lot when I got to like the semi-finals and lost to garbage.

Starcraft made me pretty angry to the point of throwing a keyboard, but it ended up being alright - the keys snapped right back on.

WoW, on the other hand...
I think it was the interactions with other people, and how real people I knew in real life could be so fucking stupid, inconsiderate, illogical and unaware. Raids are very frustrating because some people are INCREDIBLY BAD.

Like, I feel like I'm justified in being angry when someone stands in fire for 4 seconds straight (because, honestly, when you start a race in Mario Kart, you have to have more reaction time in order to start when it turns green (3 seconds)...)

And it ruins like 4 hours of my night because some people are extremely terrible and 22 people have to suffer because 3 screw it up.

Also, I've lost a keyboard and a headset because of "imbalanced racial complaints" (Warstomp.) No joke, arena bothered me more than it really should have. Lol.

My friend distracted me playing Mario Galaxy on the Luigi purple coins challenge, and because of that, I lost. I immediately got out of my chair, and started whipping his ass with the nunchuck cord.... Oh man I've never heard a man scream that high pitched.

I was playing Pokemon Stadium back in the day:

Poke Cup Master Ball and the guy had a Dragonair, it hit me with Thunder Wave (you know what that means) and then kept using WRAP. I couldn't get out of it!!! I shattered controller, the same controller I used to beat OoT, Mario64, Starfox64, and many other games. That controller led me to victory in so many games and that damn Dragonair made me destroy it!!!

I have four different Xbox 360 controllers each with a different defect from different games.
[li]Taped pad - Street Fighter 4, Seth, Hardest. Need I say more?[/li]
[li]Noisy pad - Beijing 2008, not really violence just got annoyed and starting bashing the buttons very hard.[/li]
[li]No mic pad - Gears of War there was a lot of people causing lag just so they can win, I through my pad down and my mic snapped off now no mic works with it.[/li]
[li]Broken pad - The thumbstick is wrecked, I genuinely have no idea what happened to it but I think it was somehow Beijing related. Possibly the hammer throw.[/li]

I don't take my anger out on physical objects. I usually just go into any FPS on the easiest settings and mow down countless AI enemies listening to whatever metal songs I can find, that takes rage out fast in my experience

Contra 4 had me punching my mattress in pure frustration several times. I think it's a bit justified, as Contra 4 is brutally hard. I was either fighting the final boss or dying on a boss I thought I had mastered due to stupid mistakes. I was mainly frustrated because if you get a game over without any continues, you have to start the game all the way back at the beginning, and I didn't wanna do that.

Aside from that, I'm usually too reserved to get angry from a video game, and even if I do, the end result is usually me screaming at the TV at the top of my lungs.
