You know when your playing minecraft and you build a house or something out of wood and somehow you start a fire and then you frantically run around trying to punch it out but it just spreads and spreads and spreads and you realize your pretty much screwed...Does anyone else have dreams of that happening but in real life?

Sounds you like either actually dreamed it or were falling asleep when you watched this:

I don't play Minecraft, so no. It would have been weird if I did have the dream, though.

I've had dreams about other games, though. The most annoying ones are where I just play the game. Do you know how boring is to dream about grinding? I tell you, it's worse than a nightmare.

I cant say the fear of having to punch out a house-fire really plagues my dreams. Giant green exploding penises on the other hand are a real worry.

It means you're a homosexual, and if you happen to be a homosexual it means you're straight. To answer your question seriously no I haven't. I have been dreaming about bigger than normal house spiders lately.

Uh, no, not really

Then again, I've never made any structure in minecraft out of wood, much less had one uncontrollably burn down.

I did have one nightmare as a kid where everything I directly looked at caught on fire. That one was fun.

I more often have dreams of snow, and ice spreading...

As for dreams based on games, puzzlegames tend to come in my dreams more often than action.
there's probably something about figuring them out stimulating certain parts of the brain or something...

Nope. I've had a lot of weird dreams, but that's not one of them. But my Minecraft buildings tend to be stone with wood accents, so there's little flammable stuff. Most I've lost was some bookshelves because I didn't think fire spread QUITE that far from my Nether-themed portal room to my enchantment table room. Just glad it didn't reach a bit further into my citadel's magic wing or it would've got the pentagram carpet.

I once fell asleep listening to the Escapist Podcast and had a dream where I was in a car accident and they were the paramedics. And they stopped trying to save me to argue about a video game or something.

Nope. I don't even play Minecraft so I can't really relate. Besides, that's too 'normal' to happen in one of my dreams.
The stuff that happens in my mind when I'm sleeping is just pure insanity.

My imagination is far too unhinged for me to dream about something that might actually happen, so I can't say I've ever translated events from a game into a dream.

That said, I have yet to play Amnesia: The Dark Descent, so it might still happen.

Why of course I've had dreams where I started a wildfire and had to extinguish it using only my fists!

Actually, no I've never had that dream, per se. This is probably a solid indication that you've been playing way too much Minecraft, which is an easy thing to do considering how it just magically makes time go away.

Now that I think about it, I have had dreams where I had to stop a sort of Body-Snatcher invasion using only my bare hands. I had to strangle a lot of normal people just to keep them from dragging me away. That's probably more of a nightmare, isn't it?

I have had a couple of dreams involving Minecraft merging into real life or other stuff; for instance, the other night I had a dream where I was flying around a fortress in creative mode that a player was showing me, then I went outside, and the rest of the world was lifelike, and the creative mode ability seemed to be a X-men style superpower (why do dreams always sound shit when they're explained?).

It means you play too much Minecraft.

I dream a lot about:

- driving my car into deep water, giant tidal waves or tornadoes coming for me and other such nature related scary stuff

- trying to run away/punch someone but I'm really slow or I'm driving a car super fast and I can't control it and it's hitting everything

But the worst by far is when I dream about 3d modeling. Especially UV unwrapping DDD:

I've never had a dream about that specifically but I've had plenty of Minecraft dreams. I recently had a dream where I was playing the game and stumbled upon the motherlode of Diamond. Three stacks of Diamond or something. I was angry when I woke up to find it was just a dream.

Also I have a dream group here on the Escapist. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Dreamer-Society] Check it out if you want.

Nope, mainly because I haven't played much minecraft at all... not my thing.

But while we're talking dreams... I had one the other day when I had a mutant battle with Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw... fucking hell that was fun/awesome.

This. Minecraft was involved in one of my dreams, but not in such a mundane way.

I was walking down a driveway to someone's house when this green panther jumps out at me. I turn and run, and it literally chases me across the world. It's just behind me the whole way and occasionally gores my back. I run across the world with all these movie style transitions. I'm in town, then running down a grassy slope, then I'm in Egypt, then the Arctic. Finally, I'm walking out of the sea Terminator style at night. Then I blink and the beach is suddenly recreated in Minecraft. I think "well, there's no way it could follow me into Minecraft!" Then I turn and see it has. Then I remember it's Minecraft and I log out, waking up.

The worst dream i've had of recent is the one where I stealthily snuck (ala Deus Ex) into Bethesda's (totally canon) huge industrial warehouse style studio equiped with armed guards and got a job as a programmer only to realise that I have no knowledge of programming. I think it has something to do with my decision to study game design at uni next year. Was strangely frank for one of my dreams.

Nah, most of my dreams have been about getting pulled over by police officers who act like giant dicks as of late.

Not really sure why.

I'm intrigued. What was your ability, and how did you fight someone that unstoppable?

In a similar vein, I once had a dream where I had Matrix style abilities and I was fighting this guy who was wearing a bulky armor plated exo-skeleton. It was difficult to inflict damage and I got thrown around a lot. Especially because I didn't have any weapons.
