Has anyone else here actually migrated from console gaming to PC gaming?

I did after the PS2. Games just seemed more entertaining. twas about the time the Orange box was coming out. I'm definitely enjoying it more although I've gone from my serious gaming PC to mostly playing on my Laptop. It's much more fun.

I'm more prone to buy for PC now that you see a lot of games with controller support, but most of my friends are console gamers, so most games I would play with them are still going to be console-bought.

I kind of am in the process of migrating. I've always been on the fence and enjoyed both formats, but with Uni on the horizon, moving out of my parents' place into a form room, and most likely losing space for consoles I'll probably be sticking to PC gaming alone.

Unfortunately modern PC gaming doesn't offer that much that consoles don't, but I always enjoy older games, I must have played through Half-Life 1 about 3 times this year, and finally I'm joining the Deus Ex party (bit late I know).

In a way, I have, since I started with the SNES, then the PS1 and borrowed my cousin's N64 and GameCube. During that time, my parents were out of a job and I couldn't afford a new console or a PC until 2009, from which point on I've been gaming exclusively on PC. Unfortuantely, it's a laptop, so my game choices are limited by the processor getting owned by current graphics. When I graduate from Uni, I'm planning on building a gaming PC with more memory and better hardware, although I'll still keep gaming on consoles for their exclusive titles.

I just got Steam not too long ago actually and opened up my gaming world to new possibilities. :p

Still a console gamer though, of course. xD I love my PS3. :))

I'm also going to be putting together a gaming PC here soon, hopefully. :3

In a way. As a kid, I played console and PC games equally, but every time my parents old computer would get too long in the tooth to run games, I'd move over to my console for new games until that computer died and they bought a new one. This gen, the consoles were so expensive that I wound up skipping them entirely, and kept playing my PS2 and my older PC games until I could afford a decent laptop. I now do about 90% of my gaming on the PC, with most of the rest being social gaming with my roommates.

You missed out. The PS2 has the best backlog of any home console since.. ever.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you there, in retrospect. If there was any old console I'd be tempted to pick up it would be a PS2. Maybe one day...

I alternate between the two. When I get a new computer I have a tendency to buy lots of PC titles because I have the specs to play them. After a few years I tend to gravitate more towards console games, since I don't have to fret over the system requirements or how much hard drive space it's going to eat up.

Eventually the computer breaks down. I buy a replacement and the whole thing starts all over again.

I used to play on super nintendo and playstation1 and they were my main platforms. But I also had sokoban and tetris on my computer and things like zoo/rollercoaster tycoon. When I got older, I migrated to the pc and never left it again.

Playstation1 was the last console I owned. Nintendo consoles are the only ones I consider buying, because in my eyes the games Nintendo makes are the ones I would like to play on a console. But I never bought the WII because I dislike waving my arms like an idiot. I am all with Yahtzee on motion control.

Well I started on consoles and am still pretty much a console player, I think my console games library out numbers my pc library like 20 to 1. Mind you I have a lot of consoles and over 500 odd console games. I really do love my gaming pc, I spent a good deal of time and money building it and it is defentally more powerful than my xbox360. It just seems there aren't really that many exciting games coming out on pc compared to the consoles. Am looking towards to elder scrolls skyrim though, a game like that can only be played on the pc. I love modding games :)

After my fifth 360 destroyed itself (more than a year ago), after a year and a half of perfect care, I decided to give up on consoles until the next gen.

I've always been a console gamer, ever since the Master System, but I'm now enjoying something I've wanted to get into for many years.....Flight Sims. No other machine can do them like a well sorted PC.

I've just ordered a GTX 470 and two more Noctua fans tonight. Slowly upgrading until I'm satisfied I'll be able to run Skyrim properly!

Did you really just ask if people agree that the PC is the master race
No; I asked whether there were more people, like myself, who used to play primarily console games, that now primarily play PC games.

on a site dominated by massively hardcore PC gamers, who have had a tendancy to loudly voice how much better the PC is than the console?
If you look at the posts in this thread, I'd say the numbers disagree with you. Seems to me that about half of the replies are from console gamers, or from people who play both. Even those that are primarily PC gamers seem more than willing to discuss its shortfalls (high initial cost, bugs, difficulty at finding and setting up older games, lack of mac support etc).

Just another point, this thread has been done atleast 12 times (no, I don't keep track) since I started here.
Sorry to hear that, although I'm sure there have been as many threads created supporting consoles. I created this thread in response to MovieBob's new Big Picture video, "PC Gaming is dead."

All I can ever say is, I much prefer console to PC. I even had my brother build me a custom gaming PC for a little over £330 and I don't use it that much. I am upgrading it at the moment to play some games, mainly RTS.

I play RTS on PC 'cos I firmly belive RTS should never be on a console, you just can't do it. I played C&C red alert on PS1 and sweet geezus was that a chore to do, good thing there is a cheat for a nuke so you can nuke spam all game long.
I recommend Halo Wars for the 360; the controls are still limiting (it's nearly impossible to use squads of mixed units with any sort of precision) but the campaign makes it worth a rent.

omega 616 said:
For anybody about to quote me saying FPS should also be PC exclusive, don't bother 'cos it's just no.
I will say this: A mouse makes headshots far, far easier and faster. Almost to the point where it's impossible for new players to put up any sort of fight.

EDIT: I don't want to come across as nasty or mean but you it's like you just went to a KKK meeting and asked who is a racist (not saying PC gamers are as bad as racists! ... keep digging drunken pikachu)
Again, the posts in this thread disagree with you.

Yep had a PS2. Built a bad ass PC..... Then a few more. Its been a while. I own a Wii and hardly touch it. (My Wii). Might pick up a 360 if PC gaming gets boring...... (chuckle)

I marginally migrated to PC for not really any other reason than I prefer the keyboard/mouse controls over a controller for everything. I cannot play FPS's on a controller anymore, it feels so clunky and so inaccurate by comparison. I know people who are the exact opposite, and I just wish my oposible (sp) thumbs were that awesome, now anymore if I ask my thumbs to do anything other than spacebar or mouse4/5 its like bwhat you talkin bout bhoy we dont move like that!

I was never particularly GOOD at console games but I find myself being pretty decent at PC titles, I often go 2:0 or better in TDM style gameplay (like black ops or other)

I prefer controllers for games such as Final Fantasy which I still play, and for Racing games... I'd get a wheel but I dont have a set up that would permit that. And joypads for fighting games (marvel vs capcom 3 what!)

But action RPG's (opposed to menu based RPG's), FPS, action/adventure, and platformers I prefer PC controls.
