I should have...
I'm white, but I'm female, queer, mentally ill, working class, engineering student - but I guess I'm too scary to mess with.

If you say and think completely offensive comments to no one but yourself, would you still be considered a racist? (Obviously, I am not being serious.)

Even though I'm a white male American, I have had some problems with religious discrimination. Man, we Jews can't catch a break, can we?

Try taking a gender studies class where every other student is female. They seem to be under the impression that they can tell me how a male thinks.
You should ask them what they're doing in a school instead of the kitchen.

It generally pisses them off to the point of not being able to talk.

Also, what the hell are you doing taking a gender studies class if you're a guy?

Not really per se, but if you're an Asian person and you go to Eastern Europe, Turkey or Iran, most people don't see Asian people at all.

They'll treat you like an interesting oddity, people in smaller towns and villages are a lot friendlier than people in the big city though.

My skin used to have a yellow-ish hue (I was sick. Terribly sick.) and they called me yellow. Eventually I just about ended up slapping someone with a stool.

From rural south.

In Wisconsin was asked if we had electricity yet.
In Arizona was asked if we had shoes (was wearing some at the time).
In Pennsylvania asked if we had cars (curious how she thought I got there).

All completely serious.

I was mocked for being fat until I started dieting. Most people can't tell what race I am(Armenian) unless I explain it to them so I have never been mocked for that, but people on this website do mock me for being a Creationist.

18 year old white Australian. But yes. When I was overseas I had people asking me all the usual crap about kangaroo's in my backyard etc. it's not really hurtful, more annoying that people can be so ignorant.

If you havent actually been subjected to Racist/Sexist/Discrimination, then you are obviously not in America. Joking. Anyway, yeah, if you havent, then you must be boarded up in a closet... at the bottom of the ocean... inside Cthulhul.

I've never actually had anything racist said to me in a serious tone. Could have something to do with living in New York City.

But in my school, racism is considered one big joke. Within my own friend group , we call the German the Nazi, the polish guys "the white guys", and me "the mexican".

All the time and everyday.

Most of it is done by people subconsciously or in jest. However it has been frequently taken over the top and I've had my life threatened and been beaten and harassed pretty badly. And I was born, raised and live in what is supposedly the most accepting and liberal city in the US of A.

yeah...when i have long hair, people look to me as a delinquint, and a troublemaker, and many other things ((it was also a reason i was picked on a lot)), none of which are true by the way...so now i write music for the people who get picked on simply because of who they are...and people who are discriminated against..basically a big screw you to the people who do it

So, dear Escapists, has anyone ever been that discriminating at you to such a degree?
Does being discriminated because of my sexuality count?

I'm actually scared of most people at school, the amount of "Oi Dyke" and "******" comments I get is painful. They're ignorant, and call me a dyke even though I'm bi-sexual... and two years ago when I was going out with my girlfriend, the girls at my school would always scream at me and stuff and call me a freak (not that I wasn't called that anyway, I've always been bullied, they just said it more than normal and often said "****** freak" and such).

I still get it now, but to a lesser extent, due to the fact I ended up not being able to take the torment (eleven solid years of torment and bullying and when I was younger, being beaten up) and I ended up avoiding everyone who wasn't a friend, and never spoke to anyone unless they were my close friend or someone I trusted.

I'm white so....no.
I'm a white male who gets discriminated against almost every day. Why? Because I'm supposedly the majority, so I clearly cannot be discriminated against. I've said this before and I'll say it again: When an employer hires a non-white person over a white male to appear non-discriminatory, even though the white male is more qualified for the job, that's discrimination. When a scholarship goes to the non-white person even though the white male has better grades and test scores and more financial need, that's discrimination. I'm not sure who decided that you could not be racist/sexist against white males, but that idea needs to die. It needs to die as soon as possible.
