Has anyone noticed IGN's complete bias towards the xbox?

Remember when Microsoft announced the price for the Xbox One? IGN posted a video showing that but replaced the audio of the crowd from boos to cheers.

Wait, did they add the applause to the live stream? Because I watched it live and don't recall that deafening silence.

They might of done that on their video player but I don't remember much of Microsoft's press conference as I was distracted by other things and I was using Twitch.

That video CLAIMS to show the audience's true response, and the commenters on IGN's vid seem to believe it, but I can't find anything to confirm it. We know there was fake applause at their reveal, but I'm sceptical the room was silent at E3.

What's is there to discuss? These companies have identical ideologies with regard to their customers. You will have to jump through the same hoops and put up with the same bullshit no matter which one you buy. It's all the same with no discernible differences one way or the other.

Or at least that's what MS would like everyone to think. Personally, I'm not willingly submitting to the false equivalencies. There's a fucking chasm of difference between these two consoles right now. THAT is why people are hating on Xbone. THAT is why Sony is suddenly the industry savior (purely by default, mind you). It's not imagined or projected. It's a real goddamn thing happening right in front of us.

But I guess some people can't be bothered to differentiate.

Maybe you should read the post I replied to first, big guy... I fully agree with you. I was just sarcastically replying to a guy that basically said none of the threads in this sub forum matters because 'no one cares about you' as he put it.

Yeah, that was probably a bit of an overreaction on my part. I've just seen so much anti-microsoft that this was just the icing on the cake and made me crazy. So I'm sorry OP.

They have an article on their homepage called Sony's knockout blow, Is that biased toward Sony ?

They also give a positive review to Knack. THEY ARE TEH BIAS AGAINST MICROSOFT!

And the comparison chart they have seems fair, too. Maybe I'm missing something, though.

Maybe they were disappointed in all of Microsoft's conference.

Whilst Microsoft have made bad choices, it's also been manged terribly by their PR department, whilst Sony's has done quite a good job of things.

All Sony's really done is not say anything phenomenally stupid. I refuse to call that a "good job."

As for bias, yes it's impossible to have no bias, but there's a difference in how something's reported. Gaming news has tended to wear any biases they have on their sleeve because they aren't considered real news anyway (see: Fox News).

Of course, we only tend to CALL them on it when we disagree.

I remember back in the days of gaming mags before the internet, my friends thought Gamepro was TEH BIAS. The only thing they couldn't agree on is who it was biased towards/against.

Before the PS4 reveil and I knew anything about it, I thought the Xbone was crap and wasn't going to buy it. How is that biased towards the PS4? Especially since I don't even own a PS3? Mircosoft did it to themselves. Sony had nothing to do with it besides developing a product gamers want.

Maybe pre-e3 or after they changed their position but when i was looking at ign for updates during e3 it was pure xbone favouritism. And to the comment that i'm biased, it doesn't actually make a difference i'm one person who doesn't have an ounce of the influence ign does. If one person is being biased on a forum it is much different to something that people base/change their opinions on being biased. For example if i told my friends that immigrants ruined the economy it is much different to a newspaper demonising them. (just an example lets not get into that fight, i dont actually believe that...)

The last thing I saw on IGN was an article about Microsoft telling people who wanted offline single player to stick with the 360, so I mean, they're not sugarcoating anything as far as I'm concerned.

I think IGN gave a fair view, but since there is a huge knee-jerk reaction against Microsoft then I guess anything short of setting 360s on fire could be considered bias.

The PS4 is more powerful, cheaper, and more consumer friendly. That's the trifecta right there.

I think the misleading articles are more about IGN sucking at journalism. They didn't have the research/integrity to realise that Sony was saying that the system is unchanged for what worked on the PS3 and spun that into a bad story.

I don't think they'd be biased because the PR defeat of Microsoft was so extreme it's pretty much annihilated any of the normal opposition. Whats left is basically the backlash of the backlash, even Penny Arcade who are huge Xbox fans to the extent that they argued that the wonky battery packs that always bug on the 360 were better than the short charging cables of the PS3. And even they, despite writing a post trying every possible pro-MS argument concluded with 'and we bought a PS4'.

I don't believe that IGN has the honesty to stick to a bias when they could be busy raking in money with sensationalist and populist titles. They wouldn't have the guts to expose themselves to a public roasting.
