Most people are blaming the Forum Games. Which is fair enough seeing as it's true.

As for my 2549 posts, only about 0.5% of them are Forum Games, if that.

It's never a good idea to step foot near the post button as a regular user when your intoxicated/in a bad mood, let alone the moderation controls after a shitty day. However having said that, attacking a mod is still a punishable offence. So it's kinda a double-edged sword. If there was an incident where I was called upon to moderate after a crap day at work and/or in a foul mood. I'd consult another moderator.
Apparently some mods don't share this idea, as I've seen much evidence of mod dickery. But, what can you do, it's an imperfect system. I say everyone should submit to my arbitrary rule of the world and internet. Then, when things are unfair or awesome, you know you can blame a specific person

As everyone already said, user groups, forum games and the RP section lead to more posts in a short amount of time. I am actually a good example of this, I had about 1000 posts before I joined the pub club on september 3rd and I now have over 8000 and most of those came from the Forum games and user groups :p

I believe the main reason for this is the inclusion of posts in User Groups and the large participation in the Forum Games section, making it really easy to gain thousands of posts in a short space of time.

I'd wager that at least half of my 20,000+ posts are in User Groups.
Cheater!

Is what I would say if I didn't have only about 3500 forum posts and the rest from user groups.

Well I haven't really been paying attention to post counts whenever trawling through the forums so I don't really know if there's a trend or anything discernible from people's posts stats against joining date. For myself, I know that a majority of my posts come from the forums in general. Around the end of 2010 and start of 2011 I guess I was going on a sort of posting binge as I got into the flow of things and thought that I should probably start using my Escapist account to get more involved in the threads present on the site rather than just watching Zero Punctuation and waiting for the latest Critical Miss to come out and that is why I have around 800 posts now. I could have had more but from the summer to the end of last year, I kinda wasn't visiting the Escapist that regularly.

I would probably get involved in forums games if I felt the motivation to do so as I enjoy the whole forumRP... thingy but at the moment I have yet to actually seek one out and currently do not think I can become a part of one. Maybe after exams have finished at the end of the month. Meanwhile, Maths, Mechanics, Psychology and forum surfing and gamin- uh I mean studying ho!

[sub][sub][sub]Yea... Katawai and Batman: Arkham City are really distracting [/sub][/sub][/sub]

Forum Games and Usergroups happened. At least half my posts are from User Groups and Forum Games, I can tell you that.

I still find it strange that your user-group posts don't appear on your profile. Or am I missing something again like I usually do :p?

This

12,000 of my posts are in the forums, about 8-10k being in Forum Games alone, the rest are from User Groups which to be honest should not count towards posts.
