People who bash France's military history always resort to the <url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_True_Scotsman>No True Scotsman fallacy to get around Napoleon.Leftley said:Corsica was encorporated into France in 1768, the year before Napoleon's birth. What's your point?Rigs83 said:Napolean was Corsican. He spoke french with an accent that got him ridiculed by fellow officers.newguy77 said:Ever hear of a little guy named Napoleon?
"Half" won is correct, in fact. Not only did they train us and give us money and weapons, but they also tied up parts of the British military by fighting elsewhere. It was for selfish reasons, granted (France wanted India), and they lost that conflict, but it still helped the colonies.BGinsanity said:Aside from Napolean and all the other ones already named it could be argued that the Revolutionary War could be like a half win for the French. It wasnt their war obviously but without their aid we(US) would have been pretty screwed....like never existing screwed.....
...thats really, REALLY screwed.
no it doesnt but it does bring pain to othersVanguard1219 said:So wait, you asking if France, a country that has been existance for as far back as the Dark Ages and was once (and according to some opinions still is) one of the major super powers in Europe has, in it's entire history, ever won a war?
Tell me, does ignorance of this level cause your physical pain?
