Has immersion ever made you do something extremely retarded??

At a time I was playing WoW and GTA San Adres (spelt wrong) at the same time. Between the two, whenever I was walking around in public I would see every person with a health bar floating above their head and looking at cars thinking "Man I bet I could get some good air off the wharf if I stole that."

After long hours of playing Spy in TF2, I got excited and my fingers started twitching whenever someone had their back to me in real life. I started clicking an invisible mouse and hoped that they wouldn't turn around. Or that no one else was watching.

I'm fairly certain I have. I know at the very least I've annoyed other Tekken players by calling out my move names ("Stop saying 'Shining Wizard,' already!").

Well this might not be immersion, but certainly addiction. I played WoW for a few years and once in a while, when I go outside (lol), I sometimes link some ordinary plants/herbs to herbs from WoW. I remember seeing peaceblossom next to a bank...
I remember once when I was in Japan, eating a sandwich and drinking tea outside a small Zen temple in Kamakura with a couple other students, looking out at the scenery and noticing an interesting-shaped crevice between two hills.

Me: "Hey, that looks a lot like Shadowglen!"
Them: "..."
Me: "You know...the spot next to the cave? With all the giant spiders?"
Them: "What?"

The craziest thing immersion has made me done so far is actually find Fallout 3 to be terrifying. Not just the usual suspects like Deathclaws, I mean everything.
"Oh God, Raider! Their bullets can pierce my weak flesh and kill me! Eeeeep!"

A few hours in though I started to notice that I could soak up bullets as if they were shooting marshmallows at me, and that faded :p

This isn't stupid actions so much as paranoia, but since playing Condemned, I instinctively reach for a 2x4 that isn't there when I see a homeless person.

EDIT: Also, when I heard someone say they were thinking about going to DC, my first thought was "Man, the Super Mutants are gonna rip them apart!"

... I love Fallout 3.

EDIT 2: Almost forgot this! I have started to adopt my Godfather character's way of speaking when he extorts people whenever I get angry. You know, that "I'm gonna kill you if you don't give me your money" voice?

Not me particularly, but a friend of mine has the Metal Gear Solid codec sound as his ringtone, and once in the middle of the city, he answered with "Snake here, what's the situation Colonel?" I bust my gutt laughing my arse off and haven't let him forget it since.

One time I was playing an FPS on my PSP and someone started to yell at me so I turned towards them and pressed the fire button.

One night of drunken Tekken 5 we decided we had learnt enough from the game and "We could do that!"
Went outside for Round 1. I dont remember there being a round 2 :p.

When I turn during a driving game I tend to tilt the controller and if I get carried away my whole torso. Not only do I look like an idiot but I'm sure I'll fall off one day.
Not gaming but after a very good doc who episode late at night I spent half an hour locking doors and peering out of windows at the slightest sound.

I'm not sure what this legendary brand of immersion everyone keeps talking about is. The most I get is just caught up for hours without stopping. The most it affects me is I start to play a game in my dreams.

After a while of playing diablo 2 I realised I that I had a small rip in my shirt. I spent the next 5 minutes hitting my shirt with a hammer, trying to fix the tear.

I have a similar affliction, though I can never remember the move names. So I always yell "FACE KICK" or "REVERSE PUNCH" or something like that. If the combo is complicated I'll just say it out loud sometimes... funnily enough it doesn't really change much :D

When I was playing Fallout 3. I quit playing because I has to go shopping for groceries.
from the moment when i was paying to the moment I got home, I had this feeling I forgot something.
I walked in the door, saw the television and yelled, in front of my mom, my dad and my brother, "Damn, I forgot my stimpacks". I went to my room and didn't came down for two days out of sheer humiliation.

The first time I played a horror game (I think it was silent hill) and something popped out at me, I screamed like a little girl and threw my controller at the TV in a feeble attempt to kill the monster.
I did that to on my first run of [insert horror game here] and welcome to the escapist, don't flame or drink the water
[sup]*grumble* no one ever welcomed me[/sup]
Welcome to the escapist!

I nearly shat a brick in F3 Broken Steel in the passage when a deathclaw snarls and drops a body form above you.

After long bouts of COD online I find myself sizing people up funny as I turn corners...
you should see what i'm like walking around town at night after playing condemned, its dangerous

Haahahahaaa!

I love that, man!

Anyway...nothing game related comes to mind, but get this. Lilly (she's a scottish terrier) had been barking, so, in an attempt to quiet her, I picked up the TV remote and hit mute...I only realized what I had done after the fact that it didn't work.

Hi yo peeps :) Im new to these parts (just to bring attention to myself here)

Anyway as for the immersion thing after playing some generic RPG a while back for waaay too long without moving I got up to go to the fridge, halfway there I tripped on a step and fell over whacking my head. The first and only my brain respondind with was:

"What the hell I can't fall down, that isn't how this works!"

Evidently it was wrong....
