Has Kratos ever been happy?

In the actual games, I mean. The closest I've ever seen to him having any kind of happy emotion is in GoW2 right around where you fight the Kraken near the end of the game. It's when his wife magically appears and he says "I'm so sorry, my love. Can you ever forgive me?" Keep in mind, I have only played GoW 1, 2, and 3. I skipped the PSP games on account of my not giving a shit but I seriously doubt he has ever been even remotely happy in either of the PSP games. In the original three GoW games, maybe to a lesser extent in 1 and 2, there is barely anything to his character except unbridled rage. He has just always seemed like a 1 dimensional character if he's just angry all of the time.

How about after he bangs about 10 prostitutes in Ghost Of Sparta? Well, maybe not happy as such, but probably one massive afterglow.

Also, in the first game Kratos was still a hero (in the original meaning of demigod) in a Greek tragedy. Unhappiness is pretty much a requirement in those. After that he became a parody of himself and it didn't matter anymore.

Seeing his daughter again in Chains of Olympus most likely, but other than that?

Probably after spending some time with Aphrodite, if you know what I mean. She is the goddess of love after all, so I'd assume that he was briefly happy. If not, at the very least basking in some hardcore afterglow.

Happiness would cause his muscles to deflate instantly.

I think he cracked a smile at the end of God of War 3 though, but I try not to think about that stupid ending.

I've only played GoW3, but from what I know of Kratos is that him and happy don't actually coexist. The kind of guy where if you tried to crack a joke he'd crack your head like an egg.
A biazzaro Kratos would be weird as hell though if you think about it.

In that moment after he plunged off of Mount Olympus at the end of the first game, Kratos was happy and at peace. Then the gods snatched it away by making him the new god of war.

I haven't played any of the other games other than the first, so I don't know about in them, but he was definitely happy in that moment.

Well, I'd be pretty upset too. That series just kept on going and coming up with new excuses to make him kill things.

He was pretty darn happy in chains of Olympus when he got reunited with his daughter in the Elysium fields, if only he could've stayed there. I mean that was pretty much what he wanted! He gave up all that he had become, his weapons and power; he even lost the white skin! When he did that, its like burdens had been taken off his shoulder and he wasn't bothered by visions. I don't see why the stupid gods couldn't have given him that after he had served them, what pricks! They should've let him die when he walked off the cliff at the end of the first game, and then have him do what he did in chains of Olympus. BOOM! Peace for Kratos! Hallelujah! He would've been at peace and nobody else would've had to die. But that would assume the Greek gods were actually sensible and not total pricks. But that would've also ended the series...however, that could've remained his goal in later games, if the gods weren't gonna give him peace, then he would fight for it! Would've been a lot better than all this destruction and revenge and anger.

They were acting like 'total pricks' largely because of Pandora's Box, which Kratos opened and unleashed. It's entirely his own fault for everything going bad.

And so Kratos killed them all, killed the world, and brought about the apocalypse. Yep. That's our hero folks.

Look at any story in Greek mythology, the gods are usually pricks, especially Zeus. Zeus is famously known to be the biggest prick in all of Greek mythology. As for the God of war story, he was a champion of the gods and doing tasks for them. Remember who sent Kratos to Pandora's temple and had him retrieve the box so he could kill Ares? Yep, the gods. The very same gods who got mean after the box was opened even though they sent him and guided him there and helped him to get it. Is it truly all his fault?

Oh sweet jesus my day was just fucking made. This maybe the best thing on the internet.

OT: The only GOW games I have actually played for any extent is the first and third and all Kratos does is shout, yell, and scream, and yes I also know those are the same adjectives. They are all that describe the his personality at all.

Oh I know they're not without blame. I know enough about Greek mythology to know they're pretty much all assholes even without the pandora's box element God of War added. It's just a bit hard to have any sympathy for the guy who literally ends the world and has a penchant for murdering innocents to be used as doorstops when the mood strikes him.

Kratos is far more evil than any of the Greek Gods by the time God of War 3 finished.

i am not 100% sure here but wouldn't the world kinda sorta have dropped onto the Elysium fields since atlas was busy breaking down that tower thing? meaning they would have both died a few minutes later.

on the other hand with the state the world is in at the end of gow3 the Elysium filed probably blew up at some point(haven't actually played the game)

Yeah, that is undeniably true. He did end the world and killed innocents if he felt like it. I do love the gow series, but I love it for the hack and slash game play and the use of greek mythology, the story itself is not much to me. Thats why I wish it would've stayed a quest for peace like it was in the first game instead of an anger filled quest for vengeance.

Yes, thats why he didn't stay there in chains of Olympus. But that wasn't my point, I didn't ask why he couldn't stay there at that time. I just wonder why the gods couldn't have given him that reward AFTER he had served them in god of war 1, which takes place after chains of Olympus. He had let go of the ghost of Sparta, the monster he had become, it was so perfect for him; would've been the perfect reward and ending for him after his loyal service to the gods. EDIT: But that question was addressed, which is why I added by saying if the gods weren't gonna give him peace then thats what he should've fought for instead of just killing everything.

We all know that the prophecies foretold that some dude matching Kratos' physical appearance would wreck all the gods' shit something major.
We all know that he is the son of the God of Douchebags and Angry Lightnings.
We all know that he's a Spartan, raised to be the biggest, meanest piece of shit this side of Taigetos.

What most people don't know, is that Kratos was born with the soul of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. If you do some cross-checking, literally every single thing Kratos has ever done in his entire existence is a perfect match with the psych profile of the average Tyrannosaur.

Happiness is not a factor when your entire existence is a constant and unremitting expression of this song:
