Has Origin's EULA been fixed or is it still invasive?

So last year I was one of the people running around proclaiming that Origin's EULA was outright creepy in that they wanted the right to basically completely monitor your computer usage, right down to not only what media player you used to watch movies and listen to music, but even what movies you watch, what music you listen to, and where you got them from. To me, this was privacy invasion of the highest order and I vowed that as long as I had any doubts about the service, I would never agree to their EULA. Considering how much I adore the Mass Effect franchise and that the conclusion capstone of the trilogy is due out in mere weeks, it is truly saying something that Origin's EULA creeps me out so much that I won't continue forward with the series as long as Origin is a required part of the deal.

While nothing about my stance has changed, a friend of mine has been in love with The Old Republic since launch day and has wanted me to play it with him. I hate MMORPGs as well because it feels like paying rent to use something I've already purchased, but he got around this by flatly offering to pay my subscription fee for as long as he is playing and I bought the physical copy myself. I was all set to purchase it when it dawned on me that TOR, being an EA/Bioware product, might require me to download and install Origin to play. A quick search and yes, if I buy the game, I'm going to be forced to agree to Origin's EULA to play it. But another search past that yields the EULA and it doesn't quite look like it did before. So I come to you, good denizens of my second home, to ask the obvious question that I clearly didn't keep up with.

Did EA back down and remove the requirement that I give them predatory rights to data collection on my system or is it still in there somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?

Short answer:
No more "predatory" than any other social media or game platform out there.

Long answer:
Origin's EULA was always pretty much the same shit Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Steam etc etc etc do but worded in a way that opened up the possibility of invasion of privacy. Nowadays they've corrected that with, as Zeel said, an optional choice if you want to share info or not. Obviously you can put on a tinfoil hat and go the "BUT THEY DEFINATELY DO IT BECAUSE THEY CARE SO MUCH WHAT EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER IS LISTENING TO ON MEDIA PLAYER" route. Whatever makes you sleep at night I guess.

Always amused me, how people got up in arms about Origin and all the "horrible spying and personal info mining" that it does/has done. The biggest facepalm I had was when I saw people on FACEBOOK complaining about Origin, and saying how they were afraid their personal information would get into the wrong hands.

Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

I have the game myself, and while I purchased it off the origin website, the client itself was not required to play

I think they'll get a bit of a shock if they spy on MY Media-Player usage! ;-)

The EULA's prettymuch been fixed.

The creepy clause got replaced with one to the effect of, "EA would never spy on you or sell your information because we're wonderful people and we love you."

Whether or not you trust them is another matter. For what it's worth, I installed Origin back when BF3 came out and my PC hasn't killed me in my sleep yet.

The EULA's basically been fixed, but since that would give good PR, EA haven't said anything about the change.

Might I ask, how does one turn the information gathering thing off? I'm trying to get my friend to get Origin so we can play ME3 MP together, and he's very protective about his privacy.
