Has seeing a spoiler ever made you rage?

I have had no particular instances but I hate when people just put spoilers without any warning. Say game x is released then the next day someone on these forums says something like "It was awesome when thing y happened in game x" without any warning. Really couldn't even say SPOILERS FOR BRAND NEW GAME. Just a pet peeve.

For the most part I try to be good to keep myself surprised, but if I do get spoiled, I don't get too worked up over it. Hell, sometimes it actually encourages me to play it and witness it myself.

I hate when people spoil things then go "What? Everybody knows that."

Presumptive dick.

I'm pretty good at avoiding spoilers for things and most of the time I don't mind too much when it happens (although some people can be right dicks about it), but there was this one time:

I was really into the anime for the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya when it first came out, and while voicing my discontent about the failure of a second season to a friend, he promptly spoiled the entire series for me because he'd read a synopsis of the manga online. I was so mad I actually hit him in the arm hard enough for it to hurt (I'm not a violent person at all). He swears he didn't do it on purpose, and one day I may believe him for it. The worst part was that it was spoiled in such a fashion that it actually made me hate the show for what was going to happen.

I completely lost interest in the series after that. I didn't just stop buying anything from the series; I also sold all the stuff I had relating to it. Saved me some cash, though.

capcha: take umbrage (haha)

Well, starcraft II, no spoilers ahead:

Anyway, I was playing through the hardest mode of Starcraft II and completely getting every single thing you could do IE: Finish the level losing less than 2 bunkers, etc... Anyway, it was hard and not exactly meant to be your first play through but I don't often replay games so I just wanted to do it that way.

Anyhow, my young brother finished the easy campaign and gave me a HUGE spoiler, I Was raging for fucking days. I am still slightly pissed off every time I remember it. I never did finish the campaign after that, I did become one of the top 20 ranked players of that time but I was just way too mad about it.

Anyway!! I still hold every spoiler over my brother head. Every single time he asks me a detail which could be a catastrophic spoiler (I tend to read the original work a lot) I tell him "If I told you it'd be a humongous spoiler, also I want you to know how much better I am than you because that time with Starcraft..."

Quite a while ago, I was very psyched to see the movie "9" with a few of my friends.

Literally minutes before we left for the theater, I watched the trailer one more time (mostly to psych myself up even more). The top comment spoiled the entire thing... -_________-

Also, when I was watching "Death Note" for the first time, I learned very quickly that looking through the Youtube comments was a TERRIBLE IDEA if I didn't want every plot point spoiled twenty episodes in advance.

I spoiled a plot point of FFVI for myself by looking up the OST on youtube. It wasn't too big a deal though and because of my choices it didn't happen in my save so it was ok.

I tend to avoid reading anything about things that I intend to watch or play because I know that the internet could spoil it at any moment.

I've never raged, but I have been a bit mad at times.

One example is the fact that every Assassin's Creed game has been spoiled for me so far. That's one of my favorite game series ever and I want to make the experience special, gosh durn it!

So, this one time I was in a local game store called Buy Back Games.

At the time it was several months after Metal Gear Solid 4 had come out, however as I hadn't owned a PS3 I hadn't gotten to play it. Having been a huge fan ever since MGS2 was my first PS2 game (I was in JRPGland for all of the PSX-era, foolishly assuming that an action game could never have a deep plot) and have played every game in the series even the originals on MSX. I had just made a deal with a co-worker/friend that I would pay him to let me borrow his PS3 to play the game, and he let me. I was playing through it at the time, and I don't even recall why I was in the store at all.

One of the clerks walks up to the other one behind the counter and says:
"Man wasn't it crazy how Big Boss came back at the end?!"

I shouted "FUCK" and walked out without explaining.

Such absurdly bad fucking timing.

Protip: If you work in a game store, keep your mouth shut about the end of games for fuck's sake. Especially plotlines that are over TWO DECADES LONG...

Something about Sheik in Zelda: Ocarina of Time...
I couldn't forget it.. ever.

People that spoil things for pleasure deserve to rot in heaven with all the mormons :).

The only time I have heard someone discussing the ending of a game in a store was Mass Effect 3, and we only discussed how we felt about it, rather than the content of it.

Anyways.. it's happened to me a few times. Usually, it'll be so long between the spoiler and me playing the game, however, that I'll have forgotten. Or simply knowing doesn't prepare you enough.

I found out a particular spoiler for FF7 while reading some of the early fan translations before the game had come out in the US. But since I didn't know anything about the character it didn't stick in my mind. It was always there once I started playing, but I still wasn't expecting it to anger me as much as it did when I finally saw it. Wasn't the spoiler's fault though.

EDIT: Interesting. I accidentally skipped one character on the Captcha, and it accepted it anyways.

I had the plot of Silent Hill 2 spoiled for me on release day years back on gamefaqs. I used to post there before gamespot got their hooks in.

It wasn't even in a story related thread. They literally just popped in, hijacked the thread, spoiled it in all caps and left. I can never know if I would have enjoyed the game more or less if I had NOT known before I got to play it.

Either way I still liked it enough to get 10* which is a ***** and a half in the first 2 games and sadly impossible for me to do on SH3 due to the boss timers.

A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones for you bibliophobes) is full of twists that, if revealed too early, spoil entire books.

i accidentally spoiled A Dance With Dragons, the fifth A Song of Ice and Fire book, while i was still reading A Storm of Swords, the third aSoIaF book. i was angry for days after that.

Jon is stabbed and (seemingly) dies at the end of aDwD.

i stopped reading it (i think it was a reddit post) after i realized it was talking about books i hadn't read yet, so i didn't know what book it was going to happen in. but for the rest of book 3 and all of book 4 i was just waiting for it to happen. by the time i started reading book 5, thankfully, i had forgotten about it and it (like most of Martin's twists) came out of no where and completely shocked me.

I had the Deus Ex: HR ending spoiled, and a part in Spec Ops: The Line. Didn't stop me from liking them, but I just feel like I get less of my monies worth.

Watched an HD video of Gundam 00's first opening, decided to take peek at the comments section-

Dumbass stating how sad they were that Lockon dies fighting Ali-Al Sachez.

In a video for the second opening, I could maybe let it slide, but the first? Dumbass spoiled it for a lot of people, and they let 'em have it for having done so.

'Twas kind of glorious, actually, still, pissed me off quite a bit.
