It's a simple question,I simply want to know if it's happened to you,for example today I did some work for a neighbor and got payed,I checked steam and saw Mass Effect 2 was on Sale for $23,I left to put money in my account and now as I returned home I found it's back at full price...And now I'm a bit aggrevated and slightly pissed off.I know that it's probably my fault, but why would you change a sale during the middle of the day?...On a side note, anyone know if Mass Effect 2 will be on sale again before I waste my $23?

I bought Operation Flash Point: Dragon Rising for around $30 the day before it went on sale for like $4.
Although, I got the Square + Eidos pack, which, for around $70, is a fucking awesome deal.
So I suppose it all evens out.

Only when the servers are down, which happens too often.

Well yeah. I got Dawn of War 2 like a week ago and I've played it once, because Steam won't let me fucking log in. To log in I have to uninstall Steam and reinstall it. Then repeat whenever I want to play it again.

Urrm, yeah, that's the special sale, which quite clearly states how long there is left before the stuff stops being on sale, at least it does over here...

But no, it has never screwed me over, beyond putting stuff on sale the day after I buy it.

Yes. They took too much money from my account because of an error that made the store think I wanted 7 copies of a game instead of 1, but the support people fixed that for me.

I bought Beyond good an evil. Turns out on multicore systems the audio and video never match up. I know it's not steam's fault and just old programming but it still burns me.

Bought the expansion for Tropico 3 at $19.99. Went on sale 60% off two days later. Damn it all.

There's a massive timer next to all the daily reductions...just a helpful thought! :D

They have a fucking count down timer! The idea of the sale is to make you buy on the off chance a better game may not come tomorrow. It's marketing, it works!

Many many years ago. I registered half life 1 on Steam and forgot the username and password and email and everything.

I purchased couter-strike from Target and the licens key was already in use. So I returned it and never repurchased.

No, because I have the good sense to manage my funds properly and I actually pay attention to when sales expire, and I also tend to wait specifically for them.

Patience pays off with steam.

I never buy any games on steam that aren't on sale, the only problem is my card rarely has any money on it, and my mum doesn't like buying things online... So I have to run to the bank, put money on and hope I'm fast enough!

I saw it,but I like it when sales are less erratic,I had 20 minutes left after doing the job and putting the money in there was a huge ass line.I knew there was a slim chance...And it feels as if Steam and god worked together to screw me over this time.

I bought the Orange Box for about $30 only to find out they put it on sale for $9.99 the next day... >.<;

Oh well, the Orange Box is a great deal anyways so I guess it was still a wise purchase. And besides, I love Steam and Valve with every fiber of my being.

Yeah, between them and D2D I've had my share of day-too-soon purchases. I don't make any huge buys on Steam though so I'm never jobbed out of a ton of money.

I would say I've had about 5 happy transactions with them where I was patient and waited for something to go on sale for every 1 I bought too soon.

Right now I'm buying about a game a day from them with their "everything must go" nonsense(which is an odd way to put it since it's all DRM).
