As per title, I would like to know if I should pick it up and give it another go. I enjoyed the game for a while, but as soon as it went F2P it was apparent the route they wanted to take (to avoid any slander, lets just say they didn't choose the rebel forces).

Now I don't mind paying a sub for a game that I like, but there is no reason a F2P player spending half the time I do in game should be out leveling and out gearing me.

Rant aside, has this calmed down a bit and gone to a normal F2P model next to a sub model, and if so is it worth picking back up again for the new content? I don't mind paying for a sub either, but I only have about 5-8 hours a week to actually play video games. So, should I go for it, or just leave it on my bookshelf collecting dust?

Uh...sure? The only thing I've seen that might be what you're talking about is XP boosts, but other people buying those has zero effect on you and subscribers get handed those like free candy anyway. Nor would it result in the discrepancy you describe unless you're just faffing about all the time.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you say that it was pay to win in the past, but it's not that way now. I played at launch for a month or two, and then moved on to something else. Last month I was bored, and decided to re-subscribe and I've really been enjoying it. There's nothing in the cash shop that gives any real advantage to leveling aside from the XP boosts which you can buy dirt cheap for in-game currency anyway. Gear is just skins; the stats on adaptive gear (also pretty cheap on the player market) can be upgraded using commendations constantly earned throughout the game.

Actually, subscribers have a huge advantage at the moment in terms of leveling, as they get 12x XP for all main quests. This is to encourage folks to explore multiple storylines with different characters.

They restrict you heavily if you don't pay a subscription, but I can't really see how it would be P2W.

I guess you can buy stuff from the cash shop and sell it on the auction house. But the amount of "win" you'd get from the auction house is fairly limited.

How should I know? I win without it. Long live Jack's glorious skills!

The F2P model still has loads of insanely stupid restrictions. From 4.0 in Oct it is completely dropping all pretense of being an MMO and changing to single player episodic story chapters. Subs get them all 'free', F2P can pay for individual chapters.

There is no need to sub now for 12exp. They are changing the base exp so 12exp is just normal.
