My two fats, and two slims are sadly collecting dust in the "guest" room. Each day I buy a 360 or ps3 game I move another ps2 title off my shelf in my living room to the storage in the "guest" room.

I still have mine, kept all the good games on it. Nothing new coming out, but its still ok to play old games once in a while.

You should have seen how devastated I was when I discovered the PS3 I had didn't have backwards compatibility.
It only does everything.
I should stop trusting advertisements.

Too make up for it I promptly stole a ps2 from a family member, and all I can say is I really love *cough* my *cough* ps2.

I still have all my singstars for PS2
That's probably not something I'd boast about, online or off...
Are you serious? Singstar is so freakin awesome. Karoke is the Bomb
But most people can't sing...and...eh.
Not a big 'music game' fan myself as is.

My Ps2 Is still hooked up to my Television as we speak. And it will remain thus until the "more advanced" playstation 3 will have a way to allow me to play my Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+. It is my favorite game and I refuse to part with it only because a newer system model has been constructed. If it breaks down, then I get a good deal from Swap Meets and other stores and then if they stop that (Based on how Swap Meets keep up with technology, I will still be seeing Ps2 for sale even in years later on) I should be safe for a very long time. Give me my JRPG's straight from Japan, then I might consider updrading (that or until they release the next KH game through the Ps3) and even then, there is a wide variety of games to buy and have fun with. Playstation 2 FTW!

I'm not saying that everyone should go out and sing in public, thats partly why I loved singstar so much. Cause I suck at singing but enjoy it immensely, I can down a few beers and sing my little heart out in the privacy of my own home with a few equally drunk and tone deaf friends.

I wouldn't complain. It had a long run. Not many game consoles... actually, I'm hard pressed to think of a console that still sold in stores even while it's replacement was on sale.
I can think of one other platform where this is the case: the PC. The PC has been doing this for the better part of three decades, too. So what if you can buy a new DirectX 11 graphics card, there are still games being released which only need DirectX 9, and there's a library of DirectX 7 and 8 games which will probably work under Windows 7.

I don't buy new games for it, but I occasionally play my PS2 since it was actually pretty advanced for its time. I'm surprised it did as well as it did, and the fact that it still has games being released for it is a miracle.

EDIT: Only other system I can think of that did well even after its replacements came about were the PC OS systems, and the apple computers. Hell, my school still uses XP, and my game design teacher has an old apple computer from the mid 80s that is using OS: X on it.

Yes, and it should be. When the new one comes in, it is best to phase out the old one. However, it also should be required to make thing backwards compatible. Thats what I HAD loved about Gameboy. Until the 3DS (unfortunatly) each Gameboy could play every game made for all Gameboys up to that one.

Hell no! I still play mine occasionally. It's not dead, but it's close to it. I still play some of my favourites. I think I might trade it in soon though.
