Hate for Canada

Because they have almost NOTHING that makes them somewhat relevant to anyone?
They aren't a world power, they don't export anything in large amounts I.E. China/Mexico
They have no great inventions or discoveries.

In short, they are the weird chubby kid on the play ground that is the world, they are noticeable enough to get picked on, but not enough to be of any actual interest to anyone.... Plus they are Canadian, and be honest here, who DOESN'T like making fun of them?

But I seriously doubt many people have an actual bone to pick with Canada. As far as I can tell we don't really have anything that people could really get angry about. Aside from the RIAA who dislike our awesome piracy laws.

That's not true. Canadians have invented tons of things; the Space Arm on the space station, we create the world's best satellites, and we also stopped America from putting weapons on the satellites back in WW2. We also made the Avro Arrow right after WW2 which was one of the best jet planes of its time (although it was soon after abruptly halted, the reasons for which are unclear and piss tons of people off).

I DO make fun of its Southern brother, (ironically) North America. But then everyone does that.

Every country is mocked in some way or another, in the end - its just what people do for a laugh.

Lived here my entire life, love it here. Only once did I ever talk to someone who really didn't like Canada. I worked at a call centre that was employed by an American cable company.

Got a caller once, asked where I was, I told him "eastern Canada". Lets just say that he decided that he was going to rant for a half hour about how Canada was a horrible place to be and how southern texas was such a better place to live and how we didn't have eletricity, or summer, or blah blah blah blah. I just said "At least we got health care. Although to get a doctor where I live, it's half an hour of dogsled ridding. It's better if I just ride my polar bear to the closest hospital."

He replied "What the hell you talking about? You don't even have hospital's up there! god dam beaver lover!"

Then he hung up. Best phone conversation I've ever had at that call centre.

Sadly, there's not a nation in the world you couldn't say that about.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. That's why I don't limit my mockery to any one country in particular.

I disagree about the inventions.
Insulin? Yeah, Canadian.
Telephone? Made by Canadian Alexander Graham Bell.
The Canadarm on the Space Station and Space Shuttle? Oddly enough, Canadian.

As well, we are probably the United States' greatest trading partner.

Anyway, as a Canadian, I have nothing against my own country. It's pretty good in my opinion.
