Trying to play Metal Gear 3 and 4 after being away for a while makes it very difficult to react quickly. The controls are very complicated and take some getting used to.
I found it was the camera angles that where more the problem, in MGS 1 and 3 anyway, never played the others, or intend to

I've heard a lot of good things about SR2 recently, I may have to check that bad boy out.
As much as it pains me to say it, get it, and get it on console (I hear 360 version is the best).

It's a great game, only ruined by the terrible port which makes any settings above lowest almost unplayable. (I did hear that it was a separate company that did the port, who were thankfully removed before the next game came out. RF:G's port is a massive improvement, though it does suffer from that problem of telling me the menu controls at all times. I KNOW IT'S CLICK/ENTER TO ACCEPT.)

Hm.
I actually haven't had any issues...
Any time I'm not content with the control schemes I change them, for both PC and Console...
Unless the console version doesn't have a preset I like...
At first Battlefield 1943 kind of confused me but I changed the air controls and got used to the rest...
So still a resounding no.

FPS games on PC that didn't use the mouse. DOOM was completely ruined for me when I tried it because the controls are so messed up. I guess that's age - developers have simply moved on to realize that certain control schemes are way better.

Prototype's vehicle controls, the logic behind it made you think, what on earth were they thinking?!
I disagree, I thought that Prototype had much better vehicle handling than most games where vehicle control isn't a primary priority. Flying the helicopter in prototype was much easier and more intuitive than doing so in GTA4.
I'll give you the helicopter. That handled really well. But operating the tank was just infuriating. Worst control I can recall right now.

Also, Alone In the Dark's control was god-awful. Honestly, I could have enjoyed that. I really could have, had it not been for the terrible controls.

I hate the controls for the helicopters in GTA4. Turning is controlled by the mouse's x axis when the x axis of the mouse should control the banking of the helicopter, essentially putting control of the rotor disk all under the control of one hand, in the mouse. But noooooo, they don't even allow you to change what the x-axis of the mouse controls.

I hate PC controls in general though, as the keyboard is not capable of handling inputs that vary with sensitivity. But I also don't care for joystick control for aiming since there always seems to be a lack of precision without using movement to compensate for overshooting a target.

All the GTA games have control issues... the gunfighting in everything before GTA4 was horrendous.

Niko on the other hand feels like a sluggish, awkward gorrilla.

Also, whoever said the Half Life 2 vehicles, I agree, especially on console versions.

I made a thread about this a while ago. I hate the 2D control type wich makes you go back and forth every time you walk through a door or camera angle. I rather the 3D type or the metioned "Tank" type every time.

obliviously the old Silent hill & Resident evil games on the PS1, but i suppose trashing old games for poor controls isn't exactly fair, prototype had an odd control scheme i thought, and i wasnt a huge fan of Tenchu Z's controls, or the whole game in general

Fatal Frame has you move with the right stick and look around with the left stick- totally bass-ackwards from every other video game ever made with the analog sticks in mind. What's more, there is no way to adjust it in the first Fatal Frame.

This is absolutely murderous to adjust to, and makes the first game nearly unplayable without a long breaking-in, relearning period.
