My high school had a no hats policy for when class was in session. Other than that you could wear hats around the premises whenever you pleased.

We were a Catholic orientated private school so it was mainly for religious purposes. I didn't mind it and most other people didn't really mind it that much either.

Personally, I think it should be like skirts: if they're inappropriate, the students should take them off.

Edit:
... Wait, that would only apply to hats.
*fail*
I'd like to see the resulting debacle if they would ever try to enforce that skirt-policy.
Seems like someone might disapprove... /heckle ;)

OT: I can't say that I think hats are appropriate to wear in school, but I also think that banning them generates more trouble than what it's worth. Sure, banning hats might decrease the amount of cases of minor vandilazation to some extent, but since they were already breaking the rules to start with, what's keeping them from continuing wearing them? And then there's the amount of complaints from religious people and those who just likes to wear headwear.

So yeah, it might be a small gain, but it's rendered almost obsolete when complaints and such hassle comes into play.

You think that's bad, in my school we weren't allowed wear a coat. In winter. God damn uniforms... Someone got in trouble for wearing their coat in after school study too one time, and it was fucking freezing. Bananas...
Our school is trying to do that crap. They're trying desperately to make it so that the only jackets we can wear are the ones -they- make. EDIT: I forgot to mention at first that they're not calling it a uniform policy because someone has threatened to sue or something dumb like that.

What they don't realize, however, is that these jackets are thin, made like sweaters with less material, and the such. Not to mention our school's logo is retarded (and so are their 'designs' they try to put on the jackets). I can understand needing money, but they were the ones that asked people if they wanted to remove the half-cent sales-tax.

I don't ever really wear hats unless its a fedora, but no one touches my fedora.

You try to take it off, you won't get your hand back.

I hate rules like that in school. There's no point to have them but to control

Up until today, I wouldn't have cared, but now that I have my +15 Fire Resistance hat, I want to wear it everyday. Luckily, my school allows us to where them!

Give them uniforms, stops the pompous rich kids from looking like bigger pricks and stops people taking the hand out of not so well off kids.

In ireland its very rare not to have a uniform even though in the North where im from and typing this school uniform dictates religious standing aswell.

Uniforms arnt that bad so make them wear them on school property during school hours if they want to wear hats outside of school then they maintain that right

You take off your hat indoors because it's the gentlemanly thing to do.

But schools these days are more liable to use hats to obscure their faces so it must be done really.

I always found this stupid. Now i've never been to a school with security cameras, i think that would be illegal where i live.
I was always told it had to do with curtesy, and then i kinda lost it. How teh fuck is it rude to wear a cap or a hat while inside? it's like old norms for behavior that doesn't really make a lot of sense, but are still beeing "enforced" cause some people fail to think past "tradidion" We did this yesterday, and teh day before that, so we do it today.

I actually had a teacher who called me a morron for wearing a hat in class. But she was a retarded ***** anyways. She was a language teacher (danish, the native language of Denmark where the schoolw as and we all lived etc) and she couldn't even pronounce words correctly or spell right. I don't mind misspells normally, but when it's the etacher who's job it is to learn you to spell right, and has to correct your spelling it kinda sucks that she can have like 5-6 errors on half a page.
And even worse, when we had dictate (where she reads something, and we hagve to write it) there was always a few words she just couldn't pronounce.
Luckily i only had her for a year, and it was like 6 or 7 years ago.

We weren't allowed to wear hats in high school, but moslims were.

We also weren't allowed to wear any type of clothing depicting the national flag, because the moslims might take offense.

I'm glad the no hats rule has been put into effect for everyone and not just non-moslims.
Glad to see you didn't have a bloody uniform, you pampered children.

I need to go be manly.
As a side note, here's:
Sylvester Stallone as Barney "The Schizo" Ross, a paramilitary veteran and leader of the team.
Jason Statham as Lee Christmas, second in command of the team. He is a former SAS soldier and expert at Close Quarters Combat using knives.
Jet Li as Bao Thao, expert at hand-to-hand combat.
Dolph Lundgren as Gunnar Jensen, a Swedish sniper. Jensen hates Bao Thao and fights with him frequently.
Randy Couture as Toll Road, demolitions expert.
Mickey Rourke as Tool, a former Expendable, now an arms dealer and tattoo parlor artist/owner.
Bruce Willis as Mr. Church, the man who hires the Expendables.
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Trench, an old rival of Ross.
Steve Austin as Dan Paine, a bad guy I think, but anyway.
Well, a list of the Expendables, but seriously.
Same thing.
