If Team Fortress 2 has taught us anything, it's that people are willing to go to ludicrous lengths for a fancy hat.

And why not? Hats belong to that very specific group of clothes that can be worn, but not socially unacceptable when not.

[sub][sub]Stupid police, telling me I can't walk around with no trousers on...[/sub][/sub]

Like an armour slot that that you won't feel guilty about not filling, but have that warm fuzzy feeling that all's right with the world when you do.

So post your favourite hats!

However, and we must talk about this.

I swear to god, if I see anyone mention the fedora, even ironically, I will raise an eyebrow and judge you poorly.

Yeah, that's right.

A stranger on the internet will think you suck. Do you want that to happen? I didn't think so.

My pick is the flatcap!

Aww yisss, old man hat of the working class.

Not to be worn backwards, unless you're Samuel L Jackson, but that goes for most things.

Flatcaps are all well and good. Hell, I have one for working on't moors, like any true Yorkshireman. But for me, there's only one hat that cuts it.

Part outback Aussie hat, part badass cowboy hat (but without the pretentiousness of the stetson) the Packer Hat rules all.

Mine is exactly that, although with only two vent holes instead of three, for some reason.

I'll admit it takes a certain amount of commitment to wear, because it's a little out of the ordinary. But other people seem to like it. Within reason, if you act like an article of clothing belongs, people seem to accept that it does. I guess that's how any trend becomes the norm.

But obviously you have to wear it with the right clothes. I'd want someone to slap me if I ever put that thing on with a hoody or something!

I have a terminal case of fat head which prevents me from being able to comfortably fit most hats which people would actually wear out in public.

Toques are pretty much the only things that work, because they often can stretch.

I guess it's only fitting that I'm looking to go to university in Canada...

What's this?
A thread about hats?
Hats you say?

Hm... wouldn't know anything about those
>.>
<.<

I'm just going to /thread right here and now, and nominate my amazingly marvelous hat, as seen in my avatar, to be the epitome, the pinnacle of advancement in the field of head-worn garments.

Thank me later.

My pick is the pom pom hat.

I wish I could wear them year-round. Luckily I live in an area where the pom pom season lasts about 7 months every year.

There are only a few hats that I even like anymore because of the area I live in, and they've all been ruined by douche bags.

That said, I do like the pom pom hat and the torque hat.

Sadly, there's only two months out of the year that you can get away with wearing one before it gets too absurdly hot. :/

I love a good top hat. I wish wearing them was a thing.

Wearing top hats is absolutely a thing. I have 1 just like you have pictured that I have been wearing for years. I more recently acquired 2 more elaborate ones that I'm also very proud of. Elegant, classy, and intimidating. Don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise with their inferior headwear.

I look like garbage in 90% of hats, so I pretty much never wear them. This feels kind of wrong, since I'm basically a professional silly TF2 hat maker at this point (just not really TF2 anymore).

But when I'm on the beach or at the pool, I usually bring a floppy sun hat because I get freckles and don't want cancer.

Haaaaaaats?! My Lord does not like hats! He does not see eye to brim with those wretched things. No trilbies, no fedoras, no shakos and strictly no sombreros!

http://images.uesp.net/thumb/6/6f/SR-npc-Sheogorath.jpg/600px-SR-npc-Sheogorath.jpg

He never could suffer a hat. Until he could. Can you? Yes.

Some would say my valiant battle opposition against lice fortresses hats is borne entirely out of my deep font of jealousy. I have never been able to find a hat that will fit my head and still be reasonably flattering. But come now, would I ever do that? It is not my fault hat makers are universally enemies of the world.

(Silliness aside, I rather like Ushankas. Practical during the winter, without taking too much room for themselves. But again, big fat skull. I gave up on finding and wearing more complicated hats years ago.)

But... but... I actually do love the fedora. The classic, wide-brimmed kind as worn by Prohibition-era gangsters and Indiana Jones. NOT the trilby, which is what a lots of the "fedoras" I see posted on the internet actually are.

Regardless of that whole... thing (it's a freakin' hat, people. Hats are not misogynistic), I'm a woman anyway. Does that make it ok?

Well, being a fashion model helps. But I agree women tend to look better in fedoras than men.

Hat twins!

I have a burgundy one and a grey one.
I don't get to wear them as often as I'd like though because when I walk places I tend to have my headphones on and I hate wearing them over my hat.

I would love a cloche hat.

You... you've opened my eyes to the world of hats. That looks adorable! I've got some snazzy outfits to go with it too, it looks kinda 50s which is definitely my sort of look.
I like the pom pom hats too, I've got one that has 2 poms poms on it so it looks like bear ears. I wore it mainly to hide my roots though :D

I generally like cowboy-style hats, broad-brimmed and distinctive, but I do hope to make it to London some day, visit legendary Lock & Co. Hatters and buy an authentic Coke hat (known everywhere else as a Bowler hat).

They do have an online store, but I feel that physically buying the hat directly from them is an integral part of the overall experience.

Well you ninja'd me right off the bat with the flatcap. I have a really nice one my mom got me for a gift a while back.

Other than that I'm always seen with my lucky red baseball cap. I'm rather fond of it even if it isn't very fancy.

Aw Piss, Ninjad, and only in the second post. I wear an almost identical hat (two vent holes on each side which I use to hold on a wind string, dark brown leather, made by Hawkins Headwear) almost everywhere I go.

I have worn it with a hoody that I got from a festival and I think it goes quite well.

I also have a collection of other hats, including:

Porkpie

Trilby

Furry Russion looking thing

Straw Fedora (Deal with it OP)

Whatever this is

One of these

An Admiral Cap resembling this

And a nice Pirate hat (unfortunately not as fancy as this one)

Most people think the ten-gallon is the official hat of Texas, but in reality.

I actually got that hat from the lost and found at my work.
