Now I agree with the wearing it right/matching clothes yadda yadda, but some people (you know the ones) need to knock it off.

Aside from that, I'm not much of a hat wearer.

The only hat that I've worn recently was this (or something like this):

But only because A) it was really really cold and B) it made my girlfriend laugh.

EDIT:

Also I realised I didn't really comment on hats as an entity. I guess what I think can succinctly be summed up as 'don't wear a hat because it's a hat'.

Don't wear a hat because you want it to be your thing. Don't aim to be 'The Hat Guy,' because that name will only stick when said with a derisive chuckle. Wear it because it looks good - it actually complements your clothes/head (seriously never underestimate the effect your head can have on a hat - I wore a fedora a couple times (misspent youth) and had to quit because it made my massive head (more specifically face) look like a fucking balloon). Anyway that's my tuppence on the matter.

DOUBLE EDIT: Do I get some kind of parentheses prize?

I have quite a lot of hats, some I wear some I don't because of style/look etc. I'm not one of the people who always has to have one to hand, I just seem to buy them on impulse. It also depends on my hair situation, if it's up in the mohawk I tend to not bother as it squashes it and it looks crap when I take it off.

Short list of some of the hats I've collected.
2 Black peaked beanie.
2 Custom coloured bobble hats.
2-3 Baseball caps
2 Ushankas. One real fur, one not.
A trilby I woke up with after a night out, it's not mine, don't know where it came from.
A sailor's hat, got this at a rock concert...

Did anyone else read the title as "Haters"?

Either way, I not much of a hat person as the only hat I ever wear the most is the baseball cap type.

I never wear hats, seeing as it's 2013. Well, I do have a black ski hat I wear when it's 2 AM, I need milk, and I don't want to shower.

Eh, I'm wearing the bush hat from the OP because I like how it looks.

While I'm already known as someone who collects hats, I'm not doing it to be a 'hat guy', but because I aim for hats that suit me.

Except my Jake the Dog hat, but Adventure Time fucking rules.

I don't wear hats, but if I did I would wear this:
Captcha: real hoopy frood
I'm fairly certain I could use that if I wanted to bake a wedding cake with no fuss. :p

I don't usually wear hats, even though I live in Finland where your head freezes in 5seconds during the coldest times of the winter, but when I do it's one of these:

Same hat flipped

I don't really wear hats, though I have a trilby. Here is a picture from about six years ago of me wearing it.

Yes, that's a kitten dangling off my groin. It was trying to attack the lens cap.

Yeah ditto on Adventure Time. I've eyed up the very hat a couple times but I'm realistic, I couldn't pull it off.

And if it looks good then go for it!

I came off as overly harsh, I don't dislike hats or hat wearers. I just don't like hat guys (as a rule). I knew a hat guy and he rubbed me the wrong way (proceed with the crude comment).

He should have at least bought you dinner first (ba dum tsss!)

That's me in the bottom picture I linked in the OP. Ignoring my expression (pet peeve: Posed pictures) I think it's pretty good. That said, I'm open to other people's opinions.

Shall be taking it on a trial run to college tomorrow.

I've got a crumpled fedora that got ran over twice....once in the snow. I also threw up on it once as it fell off my head during a heave. I still wear it sometimes.

I have a fedora that I wear with my fancy clothes whenever I have to dress up, which happens alot since I am in debate and tournaments are fancy dress required.

Well you passed the head hurdle, all you need now is an according outfit.

What an honour! :D

I pretty much bought it to go with my button down shirts (assorted patterns) and jeans (none of which are 'skinny'. I have taste.)

Plus I'm developing a preference for boots. Just need to get some nicer ones than my walking boots.

Unless you are in fact the heavy set black guy in that picture, and thus already have one, you should totally get an Indian headdress for shits and giggles.

Unfortunately, my username and avatar aside, I am not The Diabolical Biz Markie. I'll take it into consideration though, I feel I could rock that.

Also boots rock. I sport a pair of these bad boys...

...and feel like a king every day. They need a good servicing though, soles are all worn down.

Those are some sexy footwear. If I could snag a pair with brown soles, I'd definitely go for them.

I actually have a collection of hats. They're all fedoras though. It was my freshman year and I thought: "might was well try something new." So I got a hat that I thought looked cool, and I liked it so as my old ones have worn out I've gotten new ones to replace them. I get my latest hat over Christmas, I really like it.

Here it is:

I rather like it, plus I get occasional compliments on it which is nice.

Oh, I thought you were going to start talking about HatFilms.

Well I have an oversized dark blue beenie. Nothing special, but it keeps me warm.
