I play WoW for roughly four months, and then I take around twelve months off. I usually end up coming back a few months after an expansion (two months after Burning Crusade came out I got the expansion, and then five months after Wrath I got that).

I also uninstall my entire Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War collection after two months of having it installed, and then ten months later I'll reinstall it. I don't know why, maybe it's to give me the fresh start on the Dark Crusade campaign (which I love), yet sadly I don't own Soulstorm... I should buy that some day.

If it's a new game then I have a checklist for the first experiencing of it.

Nice strong IPA, 3 bottles.
Nice strong weed, bowl to the head before starting game.
Nice set of headphones way to loud.
All lights off and phone set to silent.

I use a combination of intoxicants, sensory deprivation, and comfy seating to draw me into a game. If that doesn't work (FEAR, Gears of War) the game ain't worth my time.

That's right, I was buzzed and stoned to the be-jesus when playing FEAR and I still thought it sucked.

I always must beat a game on the hardest difficulty before I allow myself to play online multiplayer. I bend this for some offline stuff(for instance, I don't own Halo 3 and can't expect everyone to let me run through it several hour campaign first,) but never for online. Those damn grenades in WaW kept me off of Xboxlive for a while.

In games like KoToR where there's a distinct good and bad side, I always make one character with two save slots to have one for evil and one for good.

In Pokemon, I always level up inbetween towns in units of five. Inbetween the first town and the second, my starter will be ten before I walk to it, and that pokemon is then kept as the bar for the remainder of the game unless I come to a point where I must level up even more.

Optional Objectives=Main Objectives

1. I play through the castlevania games (the oldschool ones) in an arbitrary order on Halloween. Any time left over is spent on Zombie's Ate my Neighbours. Usually I have friends over, we wear a random assortment of costumes. And swear at trick or treaters in German. (Yes, this is what I did while you guys went out and got candy as a child)

2. Play through the hardest difficulty of Donkey Kong Country with the "merry" cheat turned on as well, on Christmas.

3. I don't believe in an "easy mode" and as such will never play using one.

With many of my favorite games there is one major tradition. Grind-on!

Then I grind until it's time for bed. Gotta love that grinding!

Also, I don't really have a playing tradition but I always look forward to the fall/winter lineup of games for the holidays. Some months in the summer as I circle Gamestop just looking for anything interesting I look at the scheduled releases and dream of December.

In December, when there is snow falling outside, I grab 2 Moonpie's, an A&W rootbeer, and play the first Max Payne.

Every. Year.

September 3rd was USA's Birthday for Final Fantasy VII. as the usual, I started a new game.

Also, my friends and I listen to Guns n Roses when we play Gears of War. Dunno why, we feel it just fits the game best.

When I can name a character, they are Darth Pope without fail. If there aren't enough spaces, I'm D.Pope, or just Pope.
I wish to know why you are stealing my last name, and why you think I'm a sith.
Just do a Google Image search for my user name. It's interesting...

Around every Christmas, I get the urge to play a Final Fantasy game. Probably because the first one I actually owned and beat was given to me as a Christmas gift.

ETA: And for some reason, whenever I start Portal, I play it through. To the very end. Every time with rare exceptions.

I will always go back to RE4, whether to replay it in its entirety, or just for five minutes, it will happen.

Never let go Jack, never let gooooo!
