Have any of you played any of the pre-TWD Telltale games? Are they worth getting?

I enjoyed a lot of them, but Sam and Max were always my favorite. Season 3, the Devil's Playhouse was particularly fun for me because it was essentially "Sam and Max do a Lovecraft Parody". Season 2 was also a lot of fun, while season 1 was uneven(the episode where Max has to become President of the US was pretty awesome though).

Honorable mentions to Wallace and Gromit for making a game that nails the feel of the show/movie and Strong Bad for being awesome.

Back to the Future is fun and essentially BTTF Part 4(though as a game could be better), while Tales of Monkey Island was ok but disappointing.

Never played the walking dead.
I have however played some of their Sam & Max stuff, monkey island, and BTTF...
So, there is that.

They were OK, if you're into adventure games

Another vote for Back to the Future. As far as story goes it can only really be rivaled by The Wolf Among Us. Gameplay wise it's a bit weak but that really didn't stop me enjoying it.

While it does make a few nods to the films it stands on its own and I don't think you need to know anything about them to enjoy the game.

Sam & Max was prolly the best AG series they did. Some good puzzles and occasionally funny moments.
Strongbad is also worth playing.

Last adventure game with decent puzzles that TT published was Hector. I thought that one was pretty funny also.

Sam & Max is pretty good, but they're much more traditional point and click style adventure games than Telltale's later stuff. I liked the humour and style of the games, but I just really hate the game-play of that whole genre, so I couldn't stick it out to the end.

So yeah, YMMV. If you actually like those old adventure games then definitely go for it, but otherwise maybe not.
