So I started up steam today and clicked on "Garry's Mod."
Then I noticed this:

500 Hours? That's much more than I realised.
MUCH more.
I suppose It's because Garry's mod really appeals to me, I love making stuff, and Garry's mod lets me do that. Then of course is using contraptions I've made to annihilate other people's contraptions.

Every time I think "Wouldn't it be cool if..." I realise I can probably do it in Garry's mod. Hence I have spent an enormous 500 hours playing this game.

So escapists, what is that game which just eats up your time, you just can keep playing and playing. Why? What part of the game just draws you back again and again?

Team-fortress 2, Diablo 2 and red-alert 2 soaked up the most time. I think I'm at around 700 hours for TF2, but then I do just leave the game open a fair bit, and I've had it since beta.

I haven't got anything like that apart from 300+ hours when I had oblivion on my xbox. I seen a guy yesterday who had clocked 7000+ hours on TF2. I almost shat myself

Team Fortess 2. Damn I've spent more time on that game than I have had time to eat square meals.

Mass Effect 1, I have one save that's about 86 hours. (Multiple playthroughs) and I've played it to completion many more times.

Empire: total war. even though it's only about 50 hours that i've played, it really doesn't seem that long. Also halo: Combat evolved. i have got 500 hours plus on that game, but it doesn't seem like that much, a long time yes, but not that long.

Must be baldur's gate 2. Bought it during the fall holliday and on the end of the week my elbow just felt soar from all the playing.

Saint's Row 2 has 155 hours on steam, Team Fortress 2 has 216 hours, Garry's Mod has 220 hours, And Counter Strike has 113 hours.

Games on Steam in general eat up all my time.

MLB 10 The Show. I don't have an official recorded time, but I guarantee its over 150 hours. Get lost in that game sometimes.

Modern Warfare 2 on the PC. I quit playing the game a few weeks ago because it started to get boring, but I have clocked around 850 hours on it. A close second for most time spent playing is Left 4 Dead 1 & 2. I have around 600 combined hours on both games. I only have 78 hours on TF2 because I find it incredibly boring. :p

I'm about 150 hours into Red Dead Redemption (which is a lot considering it's just over a month old) and it'd be more if War for Cybertron hadn't come out last week.

According to my xfire profile page, which is actually incomplete due to lack of internets for a couple months and lack of xfire at times, my top five games (Frozen Throne, LoL, Solitaire, Oblivion, and L4D1) have racked up 1,275, 319, 221, 109, and 95 hours respectively. I have a total of 3,696 hours played, and that could probably be bumped up by another 400-500 hours. And that is my gaming time for the past 4-4.5 years.

By the by, interesting fact, I have spent relatively few hours, possibly none on xfire, playing actual ladder warcraft 3 maps. I've played through the campaign several times and a whole lot of DotA/TD.

I had about 130 hours on Oblivion by the time I finished it. Likely Ive had longer on other games but thats the only one Ive paid close attention to regards playtime.

Crazy. I don't think I've ever put more than fifty hours into a game. (but I'm not a multiplayer gamer which explains why)
