Have you ever admired another player's gaming skills?

I'm always in awe of professional StarCraft players. How they get that fast is a mystery to me.

Yeah, same here. To micro manage everything on screen and not get lost switching from one location to the other is mind boggling.

Same when I watched SSB Melee tournaments. I don't think I would even get one hit in they move and cancel so fast. Some of them can actually deflect everything with just the shield and soften the impact of deadly blows by guiding themselves with just the joy stick.

Anyone can spam like a boss. I alone have around 400 when spamming. More realistically I can only use ~200 of it though. What's amazing is playing at this speed is physically exhausting. I have no idea how people go through entire tournaments.

Playing starcraft at my best literally makes me tired.

Impressed? Yeah sure. Admire, no not really.

Getting that good at those games takes time. And time is a limited resource. Every second you spend getting better at a video game is a second that you can't spend doing something else. Now, for a rare few people, that might be a quality investment. But for most of us, actually working towards being better at a video game is not going to net us much value.

In the meantime, think of all the things you could be doing. Moving forward in your career. Learning a new skill. Developing a relationship. Meeting new people. Discovering some new interest.

Video Games are a source of entertainment. They are a means of keeping yourself occupied when you have nothing else to do. Making them such a focus, like a lot of the people do in those videos, it's neither productive or healthy.

I remember years ago being impressed by this kid who challenged me at Mortal Kombat 3. I'm pretty good at the title and I had pulled out human smoke from the menu even but he just beat me down mercilessly. I was pretty impressed with his skill and reflexes tbh.

Alot of my friends are better at me in games. One in particular is godly at playing spy on TF2. Someone once called him out for using the newer gear (ambassador, dead ringer, etc) so he recorded himself playing for several rounds with just the old default gear and still managed to decimate the other team. He's like a ninja and I really admire his skill.

My friends skill at Portal blows my mind. He's got it down to 23 minutes. I'm still at 2 hours.

Most people who acquire some skill, be it singing, dancing, playing an instrument, painting and so forth will never EVER use those professorially. Does that make them fools? No, people are doing fun things, if someone is having fun building the ultimate Sim City, who are we to judge?

Big Team Battle on Reach or TF2, there is always that kid that follows you around and wants the sniper/spy/rocket launcher that annoys right? Want to kick them off of the internet forever.

There is no true Fps other then PC!
