give me sniper rifle(or a semi-auto battle rifle on small maps) and my 3 friends and we all are the guy, even in 64 vs 64 games. 10+ years of playing together do that to your system.

Counterstrike was my time to shine - had some games where I killed most or all of the opposing team, even in competitive matches.
Nowadays I just don't like to play FPS anymore.

A few times in BF: BC2 and the Vietnam expansion.

A few times in CoD 4 and MW2. All of them knifing sprees.

One time in Halo 3. 54 kills and 2 deaths. Either I was one lucky SOB or I was playing against the mentally handicapped.

Yes, quite a few times, occasionally it turns out that whatever I'm doing just works. Once while playing BC2 me and a mate took a chopper with myself as pilot. we went from having no flags to having all flags, in a few short seconds. Oddly enough I got more kills with the rocket pods than he did with that massive gun. Guess people just don't know to avoid a chopper that's heading straight for you, nose down.

Yea but I can never be 'that guy' consistently. It usually happens out of random luck every couple of days.

Every FPS at every friends-only LAN I'm at. All my friends are RPGers and RTS-players, and still they want to play stuff like Battlefield and Call of Duty 4, even though that's pretty much all I play.

I've been ''that guy'' quite a few times in CoD 4, but half of those time it's because everybody else sucked, not so much as I really kicked ass.

yeah, back in my Counterstrike Source days. Some rounds I'd just kick everyone's ass, but some rounds I'd do rather poorly. Odd thing is, when I was doing well, I tended to keep doing well. A morale thing, maybe?
I find the same thing, except when I'mdoing well I don't notice it until the end of the round when I bring up the scoreboard to notice I'm at the top and dominating a few people. (Speaking Of TF2 here)
I put it down to flow; https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Flow_%28psychology%29

Only a few times, and I'm pretty sure it was only because I happened to jump into servers filled entirely with three year olds. I'm not very good, and for me to dominate requires everyone else to suck. But when I have it was awesome.

Yeah, happens often when you're good at DotA. If you're lucky and your newb team wants to listen to you, you can coordinate them and/or be so good that you single handedly own the game.

Yeah quite often, I'm either second or first in most matches, unless it's an objective based map, like BlackOps' CTF I mostly cap the flag while everyone else is playing as if it's team deathmatch, which most of the time isn't that helpful

I've quite a few times like that in AVP. I remember one time I went about 50-0 K/D spread. It was a good day indeed.

Same in TF2, I play Medic. Give me three people who listen, and we'll do wonders for our team.

So, while I'm not actually getting the kills, I'm enabling someone else to do the hard work for me, then mooch off his points, which usually places me at the top spot.
